- Interview of Shobhit Arora CEO of World Art Community
Interviewer- How did you get idea of providing a single platform to appreciators and creators of art? Shobhit Arora - WorldArtCommunity is a peer to peer platform which empowers Artists, Designers and Crafters to build their own brands and commercialise their creations. To the buyers, it provides discovery of unique creations directly from the creators. The fundamental anchor for the concept was to create an organisation with a sense of purpose and making a difference to people’s lives, a model that was scalable and resonated well with the growing trends. A lot of time was spent in evaluating the current social structure and people’s issues. I realised that creativity is an element that defines what we seek in our lives – and yet doesn’t find its logical fulfillment due to our limitations. I saw creators of art searching desperately for ways in which to pursue their passion and some struggling to make a career out of their passion. Their resources were limited but the opportunity was not. With immense support from like minded people who were passionate about supporting our cause, WorldArtCommunity was born Interviewer- How did you get idea of introducing a blog section as well? Shobhit Arora -The products we sell are unique and so are the people who create them. Each product has a story behind it, the inspiration that went towards giving it a final form.. Likewise, each artist/crafter/designer has his/her own story on why they took off pursuing their passion and giving it wings. Sharing the same with a larger audience required a blog. The blog further evolved into educating and informing consumers about trends and various craft forms that our creators were working with. It's ironic that in a country like India with such a strong heritage of art and craft, we're still oblivious to most of them. We've only scratched the surface when it comes that and we have a long way to go. Our endeavour is and will always be to ensure that the buying experience is personal and interactive, like a true peer to peer platform should be. Blog plays an important role in that. Interviewer- How do you make sure to provide best qualities along with creativity to your clients? Shobhit Arora - We have a curation team that's working behind the scenes to make sure of that. Every product that you see on the platform goes through a curation process on multiple parameters. Interviewer- What are your suggestions to young budding entrepreneurs? Shobhit Arora -There's enough and more information on the internet around the do's and don'ts in the entrepreneurial journey. It almost gets to the extent of being prescriptive at times. My recommendation for budding entrepreneurs is to simply follow their passion and create a business with a sense of purpose ( and i don't mean necessarily a social venture here). You'll rarely find ideas unique and eventually it's all about execution. Even if the venture doesn't take off like in the manner you envisage, you would have learnt so much in the process, making you a better individual both personally and professionally. Interviewer- How would you suggest entrepreneurs to tackle problems faced in this field? Shobhit Arora - It's eventually all about persistence driven by determination. Entrepreneurship as every one knows isn't a bed of roses. There are tough situations that are bound to come. Founders also realise that with all the glory of the startup successes, there're enough and more stories of failures. It's all part of the game and the sooner one accepts the same the more confident one becomes to deal with the fears. Being determined about the goal and taking tough situations in stride is all one needs. EOD, each challenge will come with its own learning. Why not cherish the same.
- Interview of Dr. Vikas Gupta CEO & Chief Investment Strategist of Omniscience Investment Adviser
Interviewer- What according to you is your 'Success Mantra'? Dr. Vikas Gupta- Visionary entrepreneurs need to keep one very important thing in their minds all the time. They should remember that they, like Shiva, are destroyers and disruptors of the existing market ecosystem in their field; and, they, like Brahma, are creating a new ecosystem. Given the above, they should always keep the one Success Mantra at the top of their minds: Don’t look at the customers, channel partners, competitors or consultants for answers. Learn deeply about your market and focus on your vision. Be focused on your Vision, flexible on your Strategy and experimental with your Tactics Interviewer-What are the keys you use to maintain the efficiency of your work? Dr. Vikas Gupta- There are operations which have stabilized. The faster you establish a process for those, the more efficient your established business works. The next step is to delegate that process to a team and train that team well to self-manage on the relevant efficiency parameters. Then there is the “new initiatives” part of your business. Here you have to be hands-on as the leader and try out a lot of new ideas to learn what works and what doesn’t. Here efficiency should be measured in learning the maximum, within the shortest time, with the least amount of money at risk. Once enough is learned and the new initiative is stabilized, it is moved to the process-driven delegation team. And one moves on to the next “new initiative” which will drive growth. Interviewer- How do you manage to handle the pressure to satiate your client’s needs? Dr. Vikas Gupta- In any business the most critical client need one needs to satiate is the fundamental promise, i.e. the “value proposition” of the product. For example, in investment management, the most critical client need is to provide the best investment portfolio which is (a) immune or resistant to capital losses and (b) has the highest likelihood of wealth creation in the long run. Our mission at OmniScience Capital is to “Kill Risk, Create Alpha”. Based on multiple decades of research on discovering the first principles of investing and testing them out in the investment markets across the globe, we have developed our proprietary Scientific Alpha Investment Engine. Scientific Alpha codifies these first principles of investing and allows us to search the whole listed investment universe, whether the Indian stock market or the global developed stock markets (i.e. US, EU, UK or JP) for the best investment portfolio based on the client need. The major de-risking of the client portfolio is done by Scientific Alpha through its industrial strength search process. What is left are the SuperNormal Companies with stable business models, strong (ideally, cash-rich) balance sheets, and a persistent competitive advantage. The powerful balance sheets and strong cash flow generation of these companies act like extremely powerful engines in a sports car. These powerful engines are what drives the growth of these companies. These companies are already primed to provide wealth creation for the client over the long run. But this is enhanced significantly by the next step of Scientific Alpha which is buying these companies at SuperNormal Prices. It should be clear by now that the way we handle the incessant pressure to satisfy the client needs is through establishing a very well-defined investment framework in the form of the Scientific Alpha Investment Engine. This helps in continuously being fully in control of client portfolios while all the while being able to sniff out the best deals in the markets. Interviewer- What are the aspects that sets you apart from all other investment management companies? Dr. Vikas Gupta- Based on our multiple decades of research, thinking and practice of investment management, we have a number of very crucial and specific ideas about it. Capital for us is a sacred thing. It is the crystallization of centuries of human ingenuity combined with human effort using natural resources. The total global wealth of approximately $300 Trillion symbolizes and quantifies the centuries of innovation and hard work combined with leveraging natural resources by our ancestors and current generation. We cannot let capital be deployed irrationally. Our quest for deploying capital rationally and in the best possible manner positioning it for the least future wealth creation is what sets us apart. In more concrete terms, Scientific Alpha, which we have described above, is a key differentiator. The most important aspect of value investing which most other fund managers and investors miss is the risk averse mindset. This is codified in Scientific Alpha and in the DNA of OmniScience Capital. Scientific Alpha is built on the philosophical foundations of value investing of Warren Buffett and his guru Benjamin Graham. But it has evolved into a modern day, highly structured framework, which allows the search across the full investment universe. When we give a portfolio to the client, we are confident that this is the best portfolio which a client could have from the whole investment universe. This passion for investment management and the depth we are willing to go to to provide the best portfolio to our clients is what sets us apart. Interviewer- What according to you future corporations should not be afraid of while establishing their company? Dr. Vikas Gupta- Future corporations should always be focused on their vision. If the vision is based on a clear intuition of the founder of what disruption the market needs and what alternative, innovative solution the entrepreneur provides then the future corporation should not be afraid of achieving that vision. Any disruptor, naturally, will face hurdles and challenges. They should not be afraid of these and need to be flexible and experimental on their strategy and tactics respectively to achieve the vision. Don’t be afraid of hurdles, they are bound to come. As long as you are persistently and passionately moving towards your vision, the journey of 1000 miles, the goal will be achieved.

- Interview of Mr. Minesh Gandhi Founder & MD of Mira Inform Private Limited
Interviewer: How did you come with this splendid idea of establishing Mira Inform Pvt ltd? What was your struggle then? Mr. Minesh Gandhi: I laid the foundations of Mira (Mercantile Information & Reference Agency) as a proprietary concern when I was a college student. It all started with a capital of 300 rupees and a baby typewriter back then in 1978. I was trying to get agency from some foreign company but that could not materialize itself. Later I converted proprietary concern into the joint stock company in 1983 under the name and style of MIRA INFORM PRIVATE LIMITED. I have a background in finance and I completed financial management from one of the best college at that time (Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics), Mumbai University. I have been working with my company for more than 30 years now. Today it is a multi-million dollar, Indian multi-national company of repute. Interviewer: What steps did you take to stand out this company in this competitive world of corporate sector? Mr. Minesh Gandhi: I started the company when I was a college student. It was an era when nobody wanted to pay for business information in India. But I have always been ethical in my work. Transparency has always been in my books on ethics Interviewer: What are the basic necessities you have been following ever since your firm was established? Mr. Minesh Gandhi: Integrity and quality services at reasonable prices is what we focus on. Providing good services to the mass is our main aim. Interviewer: What are your future plans as far as your business is concerned? Mr. Minesh Gandhi: I am happy that we are growing at a faster rate and I want this to increase even more. We already have our business set up in India, Japan and the United States of America. I plan to have set our offices in a few more countries and also come out with an IPO within the next 3 years. Interviewer: What advice would you give to the freshers and new entrepreneurs? Mr. Minesh Gandhi: On the basis of my experience I would say that being transparent and ethical are the characteristics that make you stand away from the crowd. It takes many years to prove your transparency and ethicality but once it is established people respect you and then there's a drastic change in the business growth. If you lack these, your business might be wiped out within a few years.
- Interview of Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahaye Founder & CEO of TalenTECH Solutions Private Limited
Interviewer- How did you get the idea for ‘HiringPlug’? Vikramjit Singh Sahaye - While starting-up two previous companies, I needed professional help to quickly hire my team. Then came the challenge of identifying & negotiating with good recruitment agencies who could do the job on my terms and all that required the most precious resource of a founder: ‘time’. That’s where the idea of hiringplug was conceived. Interviewer- What measures do you take to set your foot firm in this competitive field? Vikramjit Singh Sahaye - Talent acquisition is indeed a very competitive field. But instead of competing, our creation actually compliments service providers and solves a major challenge in the recruitment ecosystem. On one side, the hiringplug marketplace helps employers of all sizes to engage with specialist recruiters instantly to acquire quality talent; and on the other, we entirely take away the business development effort of agencies to let them focus on what they do best. We use technology to intuitively match them and provide a host of integrated tools to be far more efficient in their screening & selection process. What truly matters is delivering value to the customer. That’s why we followed the process of “Design-thinking” while building our product and ensured that the customer gets what they need. We also anonymously researched over 1400 targeted employers to examine the extent of challenges they were facing, and all these steps help us sail through the high tide. Interviewer- How much time your company took to reach at this position crossing every hurdles in the pathway? Vikramjit Singh Sahaye - Founded in 2016, we took longer than expected to build our MVP and actually launched the product in early 2018. Our ‘Agile’ approach to listening, learning & product development has helped us quickly adapt in an evolving environment. While many past challenges have been conquered, there are many more to come at varying stages of the company. Interviewer- What more initiatives you are planning to take to maintain this position? Vikramjit Singh Sahaye - ‘Employment’ is a noble cause. It touches lives of not just the employee & the manager, but their families, corporation & helps in nation building. We firmly believe in the values of transparency, equal opportunity, collaboration, meritorious selection & pay parity. Hiringplug aims to propagate these by empowering forward looking enterprises. Interviewer- What steps would you recommend to future start-ups to make them grow? Vikramjit Singh Sahaye - “Empathize with your customer” and you shall have success! This trait needs to be in engrained in your company’s culture. Also, pretty-much nothing goes as planned on excel, especially time-bound milestones. I would recommend future start-up founders to have Mental strength towards unplanned events, willingness to evolve with the market, prudence in cash flow management and to surround themselves with ‘Believers’. #FasterHiring #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #Hiringplug
- Interview of Rashie Sinha Founder of The Yellow Car Company
Interviewer- What was the idea behind 'The Yellow Car Company’s? Rashie Sinha- The Yellow Car Company is a business solutions firm offering specialized services in the field of strategy and training to help drive organisations on path of exponential growth. During my corporate stint, I spearheaded multiple product launches/business vertical launch. Based on my experience, I realised that we tend to sometimes miss the most obvious ‘to do’ things which could make our organisation great; for example, designing a clear strategy is a key step to aligning organization goals but not many companies do a great job of it. As a professional working for a company, I could work and make a difference with only one organisation however I wanted to take my learning to a whole new level where I can support multiple organizations in their growth journey's. Hence the idea behind 'The Yellow Car Company' was to bring on board my 15-16 years of corporate experience and training skill to deliver support to multiple organisation simultaneously. Interviewer- What type of strains you have to handle in maintaining the efficiency of various tools and services you provide? Rashie Sinha- We have two major areas of work – Strategy Solutions and People Training. Both the services are interlinked. You need a great strategy to ensure that your organisation moves ahead and at the same time you need the right skills and motivated people to implement the strategy. Many times people love the “gyaan” but tend to fall short on implementation due to their age old mind blocks. This acts as a major challenge for us in ensuring creating the desired impact of the offered solutions. We largely work with SMEs and Start-ups and interestingly this issue arises with both. With our experience of dealing with such mind blocks we have developed few training modules which help us move ahead. Interviewer- What were the main challenges you faced during establishment? Rashie Sinha- Well, nothing major. I understand the industry well enough to know the way around. My experience with working with an organisation who deal a lot with start-ups, Venture Capitalist, i-banks, Angel Investors etc. helped me a lot in setting up my own setup. Interviewer- Since you have clients all over India , do you have any plans of expanding branches of 'The Yellow Car Company’ in other cities too? Rashie Sinha- Expansion is always an important part of growth of any organisation. So, yes we do plan to have our branches in other cities too, soon. Interviewer- What motivating words you would like to say to budding entrepreneurs in order to make them grow? Rashie Sinha- It is generally said as a motivational quote, ‘Never Give Up’. I somehow disagree with it. I believe, in business it is not always a great idea to not give up. It is ok, to let go at times but never stop from re-starting & reinventing! Another important thing that entrepreneurs should keep in mind is that, funding is good but it is important to ensure that your business model first becomes self-sustaining. You should seek funding for growing your business not to sustain it. #BusinessStrategy #CorporateTraining #LeadManagement #DigitalMarketing

We also have a co-operating relationship (best friends’ arrangement) with Cathay Associates which is a global network of law firms initiated by Cathay Associates Kejie (jointly formed by a leading Chinese boutique law firm and a European law firm). Cathay Associates has a global network of boutique law firms in more than fifty countries with offices in more than sixty cities globally. Interviewer- What advice you would like to give small and future entrepreneurs to motivate them? Aniket Gautam - One should venture into a particular trade or profession only if such person is passionate about it and he/she must have gained certain level of experience and expertise. Further, one should never lose patience and must always be ready to handle pressure. Always stay focused and look forward to achieve the desired result. Never let anything stop you and keep going for what you want. For this, the future entrepreneurs must have faith in themselves and should always believe in ‘giving better than your best’. Success cannot be achieved without sacrifice and endurance. Never start a trade or profession solely for monetary benefit, money is not the product, it is merely a ‘by-product’ of accomplishments. MNSA LEGAL is a full service law firm with offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, and a representative office in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Lastly don’t be afraid to be different. Remember Small change makes a big difference. Interviewer: Do you plan to further expand your business? How do you plan to do so ? Shyam Iyer : We are currently expanding our business by empanelling like minded HR and OD professionals including women professionals who have taken a sabbatical break. We are also looking out to explore partners in different states of India and abroad who can launch our two Signature workshops which are most sought after. Interviewer: What are the problems in the field of HR and how would you suggest to tackle them ? Shyam Iyer : All groups and organizations rely on how well their leadership is able to inspire, catalyse and sustain shared learnings and decision making. Structured participation enables deeper levels of commitment, greater capacity for sharing wisdom and owning decisions arrived at collectively. The role of HR functions has undergone a tremendous change in the last few years. On one hand is the growing importance of understanding business and being aligned with it. On the other is the increasing importance of being the driver of culture and a person who enables common thinking and commitment / ownership across the organization especially when changes happen. To do this, the HR person needs to be doing the role of “Helping Relationships” by being able to influence managers across levels in the organization and be able to intervene appropriately in various situations to enable shared commitment and alignment to a common goal / purpose. The outcome of doing this is high performance of the organization and enhanced engagement of people. The skill to be able to get collective engagement and alignment is what Facilitation is all about. Being facilitative is a different way of interacting with co-workers and viewing a task. According to Webster’s dictionary, “Facilitate”, from the root word “facile”, is to “make easy or easier”. It means functioning with a mindset of serving others, allowing the group and the situation to “be in control”. As an HR leader, this emphasis on people skills is powerful. Instead of having to “know”, you need to build the capacity for more people to “be in the know” For inclusive participation to work, effective facilitation skills and processes are needed. Inclusive participation insures that every voice is heard, that every insight is given an opportunity and that no perspectives are allowed to dominate. Profound Respect allows for inclusive participation by honouring each individual equally and trusting that both the individuals and the group are capable of doing the work they have set out to do. Effective processes make it possible for inclusive participation to happen as a creative, productive and even empowering experience. #StrategicandBusinessHR #DrivingOD #ChangeInterventions #FacilitationandTraining #TalentManagement

- Interview of Mr. Santosh Nair Founder and MD of Miklens Bio Pvt. Ltd
Interviewer: In the era of people moving towards the tertiary sector and service sector, why did you choose to serve the agricultural sector? Santosh Nair : According to Census 2011, India has 127.6 million cultivators for whom farming is the main occupation. They make up less than 10% of the total population. There are nearly 15 million farmers (‘main’ cultivators) less today than there were in 1991, and over 7.7 million less since 2001, according to the latest Census data. On average, that’s about 2,035 farmers losing ‘main cultivator’ status every single day for the last 20 years. Due to the haphazard use of chemical fertilisers, the quality of the soil degraded, the essential organisms in the soil were also destroyed. Thus, over the years, the soil lost its texture, quality thereby becoming unresponsive. The irony of this situation is that instead of taking it as a learning, we followed the same routine. The world now, is facing a grave food production problem and food security has become questionable concern. If something doesn’t change soon, then we won’t have food, at any price. The world’s population is expected to grow to nearly nine billion by 2040, and those extra two billion people will have to be fed with food which is not yet being produced. Not to forget the agro-climatic conditions and un-natural calamities which add to the damages to crops. Agriculture has become a relatively unrewarding profession due to various factors like lower price of produce, agro climatic conditions, chemical inputs causing damages to the flora and fauna being another major issue, and others thereby causing abandoning of farming as a profession. This caused unrest among me and after seeing the plight of the farmers across due to chemical inputs, I realised that India needs to be brought back on the world map as far as agriculture is concerned and this led to the formation of Miklens Bio along with Dr. Nisha MM in August 2016. Our personal inclination and passion towards agriculture led to our life Goal to provide “A New Hope” to our farmer brethren through our Agri-Microbial Technology (AMT) based products. Interviewer: When people were least bothered about the farmers, you decided to stand by them. How would you motivate the young entrepreneurs to help the society? Santosh Nair : I believe, agriculture will become one of the most thrilling professions in the next 20 years, considering many people are getting into agriculture by leaving their high paying corporate job. The nation is in the middle of an organic-food boom, and in case you haven’t noticed, a surprising number of boldface names are becoming part of it. My only message to my fellow entrepreneur, as always will be “Meditate, Don’t Hesitate and Achieve Great” Interviewer: With rising global warming it is important to use environment friendly products. How do you manage to do that? Santosh Nair : Not only at our office premises, but also in our personal lives, we ensure to use products which are easily absorbed by the environment without causing any harm. Likewise, all our products are derivatives of microbes and their extracts, thus giving nature back to nature in one sense. We support Chemical Free Agriculture and are striving to develop products which helps farmers to increase their productivity and profitability. To add to the trust, our products have been certified as “Approved Input for Organic Agriculture” by Control Union; a reputed certifying agency worldwide. Also, we have filed patents for our technology backed process for 5 products and more are in pipeline. Interviewer: Are you looking forward to expand your business in the near future? Santosh Nair : At present, we are spread across key markets in the country with around 70 key dealers. Also, have been exporting to USA, Canada, Mauritius and other countries. Apart from retail, we have online presence as well which widens our reach to the urban farming enthusiasts. We look forward to have 1000 dealer presence in India and equally strong presence globally. We will open key markets in India on a short-term plan. In coming 10 years, we Miklenials will be on the fore front of Innovation and Research. Considering the way the government is portraying chemical free farming, we have a good head start. Also, in terms of research capabilities, we are way ahead of the competition (both chemical and non-chemical). In the long run, Microbial Agri Inputs will prove to be the perfect solution for any and every agricultural problem. Interviewer: How did you start your business and what ways would you suggest to avoid hurdles ? Santosh Nair : We started from a 300 sq. ft space and now have a full equipped 15000 sq. ft premise with annual capacity of 10 lakh litres. The first 6 months were purely trial oriented. We dedicated our time, expertise and resources to develop products and also test it across markets before final commercialisation. Alongside India market, we were testing across Canada markets as well. The hard work paid off and we were able to get outstanding results. The results were appreciated across markets and this also helped us to introduce new products with better efficacy and control than the competition. We had our first customer from Kerala and after which there was no looking back. #Agricultural #AgroProducts #Miklens
