Aman Moudgil: In our journey spanning close to 8 years in the Indian market and experience beyond waters, we have seen the metrics changing when it comes to struggle/ challenges which i feel are constant and a symbol of growth instead. This reminds me of tidal waves which is filled with energy which can only be harnessed by a turbine which faces them. The business environment in recent times has been very intense with a lot of challenges right from increased business competition with several players in almost all developed sectors to unprecedented situations arising amid the pandemic, construction activity bans due to environmental impact and changes in cost structures, unlimited liability of the leadership, etc. I feel that such volatile environment has made CEOs and leaderships to continuously evolve their strategies along with changing business dynamics and environment which cannot be possible with a casual attitude. We have also accepted these with open arms but with a vision to spot the opportunity that these challenges bring with them. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Gilco Global Pvt Ltd? Aman Moudgil: We understand that India is a price sensitive market and to compete with our peers we should ensure that our products are reasonably priced. Despite the fact that we are a 100% imported European technology and all our components are produced at factories following International standards, we are successful in supplying European technology in India at a very competitive price band w.r.t our Industry peers. It is due to these landslide benefits that we passed the litmus test during our initial setting up of India operations and hence were successful in bagging several good references to bank upon during our initial days in India. Adding, we have already started gaining mileage with our elevators now running in maintenance in various Hospitals, Commercial Malls, Residential complexes, Private Homes and Factory complexes. To capture the market more uniformly, we are putting our focusing of four models of products very aggressively, X-10 which is a Machine room less Gearless model for private homes and small buildings, X-27 is a model meant for requirements specific to multi storeyed high rise residential buildings, X-18/28 for healthcare/ hospital requirements and X-16/26 model of lifts for commercial malls/ Public buildings. While our presence is currently limited to Delhi/ NCR, Mathura, Bhiwadi, Bangalore and now in Chandigarh, our focus is on expanding operations in cities including Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and also presence in other Tier-II/ III markets which are highly promising. Apart from Building mobility solutions, where we have a strong presence in the Indian market, we are keen on promoting our world class aviation solutions in the airport sector in India which is poised to grow due to the government’s strong initiatives to render connectivity to every remote part of the country under the ambitious UDAN scheme. Aman Moudgil: It cannot be better than the famous quote by Steve Jobs – ‘Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. We faced many challenges, from financial struggles, vendor issues and human resource/skilled personnel issues but everyday has been a new learning as well. Arpita, in an interview, said that because of the digital shift, dine-ins started vanishing, the delivery aggregators demanded high commission and it became a pain to reach their third party contact. Wisdom was now replaced by digital marketing strategies, following latest market trends, cloud kitchens, new apps, knowing and targeting the right audience, etc. With so much to cope up with, these small players found it harder to keep up and compete. The small restaurant owners would handle everything on their own- from supply chains, management of their staff members, accounts, customer service, customer satisfaction, etc. To unlearn and relearn everything from became an added burden to these owners.
