Chimbu Aravind: I along with my other co-founders P K Rajesh, Gagan Mittal , Koneru Kishore, Vijayaraghavan Harikumar started Alethea Communications Technologies Pvt Ltd with a small team in the year 2010. Each one of us had had a strong background in broadband communications technologies especially in the development of test and measurement tools. We had the firm belief that broadband technologies will enable society at large to have a better future. Back In 2010, new generations of wireless technologies - 4G & Wi-Fi—that we take for granted today were just coming up on the horizon. That is when we decided to start Alethea (Aletheatech.com) to provide products and services that would help the broadband ecosystem deliver solutions on these new generation technologies. Over the years, we have stayed true to our initial focus and delivered cutting-edge products and turnkey solutions to some of the best-known names in the broadband technology space. Chimbu Aravind: At Alethea, we have an unique blend of products, services and expertise that helps our customers deliver the perfect broadband experience to their end-users. We combine our capabilities across Cloud & Applications to Analytics, Data Science & AI/ML, DevOps, CI/CD & Automation, and Test & Measurement and apply those to the wireless broadband space. Our Test and Measurement products help customers from diverse industries accelerate the development, validation and deployment of broadband technologies worldwide. This helps our customers develop, deploy and maintain their broadband communications technology offerings with a high level of confidence. As an example, our product SWAT WiCheck can test the scale of 2000+ devices, stability, functionality, user experience, and security of Wi-Fi access points and end-to-end networks. Our customers use WiCheck in their labs & field to replicate the real-world scenarios and resolve the issues if any, in meeting the end-user expectations. Chimbu Aravind: I would prefer to put this in different contexts • In the Indian context, we are a physical, hardware product developer and seller in a sea of services, commerce and SaaS companies. We help in developing the underlying infrastructure rather than applications In the context of test & measurement companies, we were focused from the beginning on user experience. Whether it is our products or services, we have been able to help our customers optimize end-user experience. That is fundamentally different from a lot of our immediate competitors, which makes us unique • Being a company whose primary goal lies in the development of broadband technologies, each of our products & services has been designed to address the issue in that space. Our products- both current & future - will be in this space and this space alone. This is what sets us apart again Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Chimbu Aravind: Each stage of growth has brought its challenges. When we started off, the biggest challenge was to get the initial customers. Being a new company, we needed to prove our value in every engagement. Customers needed to be sure that we have the wherewithal to deliver the product and keep supporting it. At that time, we did not have a big balance sheet or a big brand to back us. We had to build a product that did the talking for us. As we started growing, we faced challenges in scaling. The lack of a large market for Broadband test systems in India was a major obstacle. Most companies were not open to taking a chance with an unknown Indian company. The third and most important challenge was the lack of a large ecosystem in India for broadband technologies. Many of the key components for our hardware need to be imported. There are also very few resources available in the market with exposure in the specific set of skills we need. We have managed to work around these constraints over time. We also need to make a lot more of the broadband ecosystem aware of us. Being a relatively new company based in India, we are not exactly well known. We have to go out of our way to project our capabilities, high out our successes and take the effort to bring the spotlight to us. However, being underdogs pushes us to build even more differentiated & amazing products. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Alethea Communications Technologies Pvt Ltd? Chimbu Aravind: Today, we work with some of the biggest companies in the wireless networking and broadband space. There are a very few organizations in India that know the wireless testing space as broadly as we do. Over the years, we have also developed, optimized, supported and maintained wireless technology stacks and applications for leading chip vendors, OEMs and operators around the world and have been innovating and conceptualizing new ideas every then and now. We expect to be one of the most significant Test & Measurement solutions providers in the world within the next 5 years. First and foremost, we expect User Experience to be central to all new product development. We are well-positioned to address this given our expertise in building test tools as well as actual networking equipment that put USERS front and center. Our belief is that this trend would grow further. AI/ML and analytics applications are growing. Pretty soon, we think customers will expect more from test and measurement systems providers in terms of identifying and or predicting issues based on test data. End-to-end testing will be critical to assessing customer experience on networks. Whether the problem is with the device or the cloud, the blame will always fall on the ISP or the network provider. So enabling these key players to predict potential fault points will be critical and we are already doing this from our test & network management solutions. The explosion in connected devices will continue. Developers and end customers need to be sure that all these devices function as expected and more importantly interop well. We see validation and certification of IoT and other connected devices and systems to become a major requirement shortly. We want to be there in the center of all this action. Chimbu Aravind: It will be a long journey ahead, so do it in a group of people who you are comfortable with so that you can enjoy the journey and learn in this process. Sameer Allawadi : When I was doing my post-graduation in Entrepreneurship in 1998, we have to make a project that we want to do after completing education. Being Chemical engineer, I first choose Chemical and dyes. When I survey, I realized that 50% units in GIDC were closed due to pollution norms or dumping from China. Second choice to apply my engineering skill was Food processing industry. When I went in depth, I realized developed countries are not importing much material from India as organically grown farm produce was not available. At that time, domestic market for food processing was not developed much. So, I decided that I will play instrumental work in growing organic food. Now I need to start from somewhere. After studying organic farming, I realized that organic manure is the foundation of organic farming. So, I took the project of Manufacturing and marketing of Organic Manure. After completing education, I joined a company as sales officer. This company helped me a lot in making my project. Here my journey with farmers of South Gujarat started and within 3 months, I started my own trading of organic manure as a dealer. Later we took dealership of many companies and then started own manufacturing. Sameer Allawadi : I started with 0 zero capital. So first struggle was to create seed capital. Worked from home for first one and half. Started own office in 2001. Started own factory of organic manure manufacturing in 2003 but stopped it due to lack of working capital. Opened Surat’s first and 2nd organic food outlet in 2004 and 2007 but failed both times. In 2010, I was completely debt ridden. It took 2 years to bounce back. Started manufacturing on big scale in 2018 but selected wrong key persons. Here again lost majority of working capital. Sometimes they would even hire a local manager just to ensure the proper functioning which indicated their distrust in us, for the initial few sessions, we had to first work towards changing the mindset of the clients and gaining their trust. The starting trouble was significant but once we had their trust and they saw the outcome the relationship kept growing and now for some international firms we act as their technical arm rendering them the exact products and solutions they look for. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What do 5 years down the line look like for HTS? Mayur Lunawat: Currently, we have clients mainly in India, Singapore, and The United States. Vikram Trivedi : Indian market is spoilt by the cookie cutter approach of several of the larger tour companies, essentially due to intense competition. This is the biggest challenge to we face! Many of our potential clients are just looking at putting a tick against a destination rather than actually seeing & feeling it. If one slows down a bit, there is a plethora of experiences which cost nothing, just time. For example listening to the Azan between Haja Sofia & The Blue Mosque in Istanbul; one verse is sung by one mosque & the next is sung by the other, quite mesmerizing & easily one of my best memories of Istanbul but costed me nothing, only time to sit and listen to it. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for MyTourBox? Vikram Trivedi : The future of outbound travel in India looks promising, with disposable income increasing, economy getting back on track & the ever growing middle class getting ever more interested in exploring the world. We intend to stick to our mission statement of highly customized tours, as this segment will increase with the overall increase in travel. Arun Sharma: We expect to grow our revenues by 40-60% every year, for the next 5 years. This we expect to do through getting deeper footholds in the markets where we are major players and also through new product launches in the categories mentioned above. From a 5000 paid users company, we expect to reach 25000 paid users a year in the next 5 years. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Arun Sharma: Find a product/service that you enjoy creating, become the best in the world in creating it and then create a business around it. Kuldeep Sharma: Currently more than 70% business is coming from North & Western Part of the country. We are planning to expand in the Southern & Eastern Market as it has got a huge scope & potential for us. As far as long term goal is concerned , we will be focusing on Africa & South American Market in upcoming years.     Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Anuj Rakheja : To give you a brief about The Momentum Investing Co., we are an edtech firm providing stock market education to retail investors. I have been trading and investing since 2010 when I got out of school. My journey was very similar to what an average stock market trader experiences. I started off buying stocks on tips, news and intuition while I was still pursuing my CA. And to be honest, I lost quite a lot of money in the initial 5 years of my journey. After I qualified CA in 2015, I was working with a big 4 firm and travelling on an assignment. My flight was delayed and to kill time, I thought of surfing the book store at the airport. There, I found a book by Nicolas Darvas (a dancer who made $2,000,000 in the stock market in 2 years). That book completely changed my perspective towards stocks and introduced me to the concept of trend following/momentum investing. I started practising momentum investing techniques in 2015 and by 2020, I had made pretty sizeable returns from stocks, beating the markets comfortably and I had also gained a lot of knowledge about how to buy and sell stocks like the pros. In 2020, after I had completed my MBA from the Indian School of Business, I realized that there were crores of retail investors in India who had absolutely no idea what they were doing. They were all doing what I did from 2010-2015 - buying stocks based on hunches, news and tips. This is when I decided to create an instagram page (because that is where the millenials and the Gen Z were). The page was initially started as a hobby and eventually as it became popular, I decided to make it a full time venture along with my co-founder Jatin Mehta, who is also a Chartered Accountant. Anuj Rakheja : While we have started off as an edtech firm, but we are going to expand into other wealth management services and intend to build a super-app as far as wealth management needs are concerned over the next 5 years. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Anuj Rakheja : When you start up, you need to focus on two things - product and marketing. These two things need to be absolutely perfect, of course there would be iterations, but make sure you don't slack off in these two areas. The remaining you can outsource. And read a lot of books, reading books needs to be a part of your work, this is where you will get your motivation and ideas from.

    Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Shaila Dinkar Apte: This business actually started after my retirement as a professor in engineering college in Pune. I had lot of practical experience and had Ph.D. in domain area. While working in college, I got the offer by a Delhi based company for some project in speech. I completed that and then continued working. After 2 years of experiments, I was contacted by a person requesting me to generate products in speech for forensic analysis. I agreed and started working. Shaila Dinkar Apte: The main struggle is of funds. The business is self funded. No revenue generated yet. The employees are asking for increments.
