Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Rishi Raj: During the recruitment season at my college IIT Bombay, we had to prepare our CV that we needed to submit to companies. I really struggled writing my CV even though I felt I had good language skills. I realised that if I was struggling then definitely millions of people around the world especially from countries like China, Saudi Arabia etc would be struggling to write effectively in English. That’s when I had the eureka moment that a language correction service could have a huge demand.

Rishi Raj: PaperTrue provides online English editing and proofreading services to customers around the globe. Papertrue helps students, writers, job applicants and businesses get the best out of their written English content


Great Companies: What makes PaperTrue Pte. Ltd Services different from hundreds of other similar service providers?

Rishi Raj:

PaperTrue has two editors look at content which means every document is reviewed. We also have an end-to-end publishing service. So let’s say you have written a draft of a novel and want to get published as an author, we help you with that too.


Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Rishi Raj: Our biggest challenge has been our over reliance on paid ads which has shrunk our margins. To offset this we are focusing on growing organically without spending too much on advertising.


Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for PaperTrue Pte. Ltd?

Rishi Raj: We plan to grow our current core business which is human based editing service through two means

i) Organically via SEO, SMO and referrals

ii) Outbound sales through cold calls, mails and a more traditional way of selling. We intend to ultimately evolve into an automated English language correction app which would use AI and ML to analyse content and provide corrections.


Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Rishi Raj: The journey is bound to be a roller coaster ride so you may as well try and enjoy the ups and downs and not get too distracted by failures. You can always turn the tide if you work hard enough and have a little bit of luck go your way!
