- Neelanjana Choudhury, Founder at Metaskills Recruitment and Training Consulting
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Neelanjana Choudhury: With a rich corporate experience in the HR and IT sector, I founded MetaSkills Recruitment & Training Consulting in 2015 with a strong belief in the fact that one needs to have a true blend of hard skills (technical skills) as well as soft skills to have a successful career. I was always inclined in having a flexible business model where I could work in a perfect work-life balance. For me, it meant, that I can give my 100 % to my family as well as to my career. My objective was to add value to my clients through my services. This was the major reason that I thought of starting my venture. I never wanted to miss my daughter’s childhood at any cost. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Metaskills Recruitment and Training Consulting Neelanjana Choudhury: We help companies solve their recruitment problems by finding high-quality talent to help them realize their objectives and business goals. We are a boutique firm and currently, we are handling various positions of the corporate world including IT and non-IT positions, and helping our clients in closing positions across all levels including leadership roles. Apart from recruitment, we also provide training on various soft skills modules like interview skills, time management, stress management, Business Etiquette, Motivation, etc. I have been grateful to many organizations where I was invited as a Guest speaker to different national and international platforms and as an author for various guest columns in magazines. Great Companies: What makes Metaskills Recruitment and Training Consulting different from hundreds of other Recruitment Firms? Neelanjana Choudhury: When it comes to building productive relationships, I always refer to a quote by Suzy Kassem: ‘Treat your relationship as if you are growing the most beautiful sacred flower. Keep watering it, tend to the roots, and always make sure the petals are full of color and are never curling. Once you neglect your plant, it will die, as will your relationship.’ By following this guidance when managing relationships with our clients, we have been able to not only improve client satisfaction but also increase revenue. Our approach to recruitment is rigorous yet simple and focuses on resolving “real-world” problems in this space. We believe in delivering the carefully vetted candidates so that the rejection rate is minimal and productivity is enhanced.Quality is our prime motto and our candidate selection rate is 99% for both service and product-based companies across all the positions. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Neelanjana Choudhury: Initial years were challenging as it was very tough to get some clients. Generally, candidates take interest in reputed or trusted brands. To get a trusted client you need to hustle a lot initially with small startups as you get a chance to learn a lot about the market and understand the dynamics. You gain a lot of confidence during the entire process. With perseverance and with excellent client service, we are now a recruitment partner with big brands in the industry. We have also partnered with promising startups and continue to deliver top-notch results. The pandemic period was a great learning experience for us. There was so much uncertainty during the initial months of the pandemic as many positions were on hold and we had to devise new strategies to engage more clients. I used to discuss my concerns with my dad and he constantly motivated me to try rigorously. Even my 4-year-old daughter knew about the terminologies like clients and candidates and her innocent questions helped us in forgetting about our business struggles. We gave our best and grabbed more clients and focused on reaching clients from all corners of the country. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Metaskills Recruitment and Training Consulting? Neelanjana Choudhury: In the next 5 years, we are planning to delight our existing clientele as well to onboard more clients and startups. We are also looking forward to extending our services to international brands. We are also looking forward to having more recruiters especially young mothers who are planning to start their career after a gap and also for women who want to have a perfect work-life balance and are interested in working remotely from any corner of the world. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Neelanjana Choudhury: HUSTLE a lot and there is no shortcut to success. Read extensively and try to apply different strategies for your business. Try to build great connections through social media like LinkedIn and work towards building your brand consistently. And don’t forget to enjoy the journey. Success does not mean never falling, it does mean that you refuse to give up every time you fall.

While we put a lot of time and effort in developing the antipiracy product and were confident about it, it was a little ahead of its time. Smart phones were yet to arrive in the scene, there was low-internet penetration, and data packages were expensive. Online piracy was not seen as a threat by mainstream film producers and distributors. They did not see and understand the threat that online piracy posed to their box-office collections as we saw it. Many producers slammed the doors on us. Educating producers and directors was a big challenge. In a close-knit film business, getting that first opportunity was quite a task. After 3 years of struggle (only after 2010); a couple of producers and distributors understood the value we brought to the table, doors opened, the good word got spread and here we are with the highest market share in the online antipiracy domain. Consider that, in a single generation, businesses have had to adapt to entirely new marketing channels (web and social), decide how to invest in and utilise new technologies, and compete on a global stage — things that were barely imaginable to every entrepreneur. One side effect of these rapid changes and growth is that no single CEO — or any employee, for that matter — can be an expert in everything. This was, perhaps, always true, but it has never been more apparent. Struggles and Challenges have been a part and parcel since day one be it in recruitment or sometimes in Funds and several other things. But we have sailed through. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for OTFCoder? My 5 year growth plan is more like having our branches in two more countries and in several cities of India along with growth in terms of our monetary goals as well as team growth. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Rashida Dairywala : -A piece of advice?. An entrepreneur must be resilient. A successful entrepreneur should be potential enough to false the comment that runs along the lines of “that’s not possible” or “that can’t be done” and should treat them as a challenge to prove wrong.

- Dr. Prachi Chopra, Co-Founder at Intellect Bastion LLP
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Dr. Prachi Chopra: To get the Idea of starting my business in the field of Intellectual Property Rights was an extremely immediate but at the same time most awaited decision. I had been thinking of starting my own business since almost 5 years before I started Intellect Bastion IP. My brain at that time had always been searching for the concept on which I wanted to start the business. At that point of time, I was into service industry, exploring different kinds of roles in academia as well as corporate world. During those times, while working with my last firm which was based in IP services, I just realized that this is the kind of work I would like to opt for as a concept for my own business. The reason being, I loved doing it, and I loved the procedures involved in patenting process because they involved entanglement with technology and my whole educational as well as professional background revolves around technology only. It always feels interesting to me to protect other inventors/creators technology/creativity and see them with smiling faces. Eventually, I made my mind, prepared myself for my own journey with this beloved idea and I left my job and started my business in the same field the next day itself. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Intellect Bastion LLP Dr. Prachi Chopra: Intellect Bastion IP is an Intellectual Property Rights based law firm. We have a team of multi-disciplinary experts that provide help to researchers, academicians, startups, inventors, universities, and corporates during their complete research cycle. We provide them analytical solutions during their research cycle to convert their visionary ideas into a business. Our services include Patent analytics, Patent searching, Patent analysis, patent drafting, filing and prosecution and commercialization, industrial designs registration, copyright registration, trademark registration, Novelty/Patentability searches, Freedom-to-operate searches, landscape searches, (in)validity searches, and business analytical consultation. Great Companies: What makes Intellect Bastion IP different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Dr. Prachi Chopra: Intellect Bastion IP stands out and fills up two major lacuna's in the field of intellectual property rights which is not provided by a gazillion of law firms, and those lacuna's are “intensive Guidance and Consultation to clients on their need” and “creating a platform through which our clients can reach out to their own clients”. These two bench-marking assistance's provided by Intellect Bastion LLP pivots our clients and moves them into an entirely different trajectory of success and satisfaction of achieving and receiving each and every bit of what they expected from us, in fact significantly more than that. If I talk about other law firms, they only pave the roll of completing the specified task of Intellectual Property rights demanded by the client without providing them the additional assistance which is actually required by the clients and their business’s growth and success. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Dr. Prachi Chopra: My journey has been full of struggles and challenges since the day I started. There is no. pre-defined set of rules to achieve business success. And If I talk about me, I belong to a service class family, all the members of my family before marriage and family after marriage have been doing job for years and no one is doing business, neither do they want to do that. Hence, it was very difficult for me to start by bootstrapping and reach the position where I am right now, as a Founder & Director of a successfully rooted company Intellect Bastion IP. During my days of struggle, I had to work day and night, and simultaneously manage my family, my child. It was a roller coaster ride with no time for my own self. In the early days, I used to work at completely cost-to-cost pricing so as to build up my clientele and provided many services as pro-bono services just to spread the name of my company, collect testimonials and good reviews. I believe, this phase is faced by every entrepreneur in his/her early stage. Those who keep the patience to cross this stage, rise up like a phoenix and those who don’t emerge out as failures. I would like to direct the attention of every entrepreneur reading this to beware of this stage and rise out of it without losing patience if you seriously want to live your dreams. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Intellect Bastion LLP? Dr. Prachi Chopra: 5 years down the line, I see myself as a 10X version of what I am right now. I want to learn, learn and learn and thus improve myself to fulfil the needs of my clients in a more efficient manner. I would also like to create more frameworks for providing services to my clients for their Intellectual property Right’s needs. Right now, ours is a service industry. I would like to enter into product-based industry as well by innovating useful products for the gaps in the field of intellectual property rights. Lastly, I would like to significantly increase the number of employees under our official roof by the end of the next 5 years. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Dr. Prachi Chopra: The journey of entrepreneurship is a roller-coaster ride. There is no book of steps to achieve it. In fact, it is different for everyone. Most start-ups fail because of a lack of patience as well as a lack of smartness. It’s best to fuse hard work with smart work, most often. If one strategy of yours fails to achieve your target, immediately concentrate and question yourself “WHY” and change the strategy accordingly. When you’ll try 9 ways and fail, then the 10th one will definitely work for the problem you are facing, and the excitement level you’ll experience at that point of time will be unimaginable. The pointed to be noted here is to have the patience to complete those 9 ways to reach the 10th. There is no shortcut for success, just enjoy each and every day of small successes and failures (which are an indispensable and unavoidable part of success) and finally, you’ll be proud of yourself.

Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Mahantesh Nk: For every entrepreneur i suggest to spend a lot of time on R&D and know your product better than anyone else in the market. Belive in your product and never give up when you fall, just focus on the dream and keep working, surely you will succeed. one saying which i always remember is that Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart.
