Nikita Jaggi: My advice would be that if you have an idea and you are passionate about it, just start. Don’t invest too much time in planning which puts execution at risk. This was when I decided to go further down the value chain and become a farmer myself. Agriculture has a large gestation period, especially if you are in technology. Unlike trading, where it is easy to buy from one and sell to others and thereby show a decent top line, it takes time to develop innovative tech solutions. Further, it isn't easy to scale up physical infrastructure. These challenges are compounded by the fact that the Govt. does not treat you as a farmer, and most of the sops and benefits offered to farmers are unavailable to you. As someone who is motivating more and more people to leave their mainstream careers and look at agriculture as a long term business venture, this does become a motivational roadblock and adds to entry barriers. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for CityGreens? Gaurav Narang: Over the last four years, we have developed a robust technology backbone that successfully runs multiple farms spread across India. So far, we have limited the technology to be used exclusively on our farms. Now that we have perfected the technology in the real world, we are looking forward to offering it to growers across India and using it as a lever to grow. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Gaurav Narang: Just Get started. If you believe in something, pursue it. Please do not listen to the advisors or consultants who have never run a business themselves. Do not worry about the consequences. In the worst case, you will fail. You can always start all over again.

That was really very demotivating for me. I have faced a huge criticism from my friends and some other people. But I never lost my hope, because it always seems impossible until it is done, and obviously, when someone tells you it can't be done, it's more a reflection of their limitations not your. With this mindset only, I faced all the criticism and time has changed, like my those friends or people who used to mock at me once, now comes to me and asks me to teach them also how to do these all things. So yes whenever, you will come up with something different, people will always be in against of that because our society always follow the old tradition but never get demotivated by them, always move towards your dream with a good mindset. In the beginning, when I started working on websites, that was also somewhere a tough time for me. Literally I had generated 10 to 15 websites and worked on them but never got success. My website were not getting adsense which was really very disappointing. I made many YouTube channels, pages on Instagram but as always no good response was coming. And never saturate yourself that I am earning this much and it is sufficient for me. No, never develop a mindset of being stable at some point. Also one very important thing, when you will come up with startup, in starting you will face some loss, never get demotivated or sacred of that. Teach yourself to value hard work and problem solving by working through your failures. No one is great at something the first time they try it. Success comes from hard work, practice and yes from FAILURES.
