Tyronne Devdros: Having launched in April 2020, ‘The beginning of Dark Times ahead’ as I call it, as a start-up enterprise, our biggest challenge was to establish our credentials in a market amidst ‘dampened spirits’ in clients caused by the compounding effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Despite limited resources available to us to promote our services, we earned the trust of a few clients who worked with us over the past 18 months. Our focus over the next 24 months is build a spectrum of clientele across industries to create our ‘Body of Work’. The effects of COVID-19 Pandemic may have pulled us back momentarily in our pursuit to achieve our business goals for now, but it will certainly not hold us back in our relentless drive to achieve business excellence in time to come. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Tyronne Devdros: Millions of Good Ideas don’t see the light of the day for the lack of funds to support them. They remain unfulfilled dreams of an individual or a group of people who dared to dream but didn’t have the money to make them a reality’. While that statement might hold true in most entrepreneurial debut’s, I refused to believe in that statement. When I set out to be an entrepreneur, 18 months ago, after being trained and certified in Digital Transformation by Columbia Business School, here’s what I told myself … Articulate your Business Idea (Hypotheses) clearly and in simple terms. Test YOUR HYPOTHESES. Test It. Test It. Test It. and keep testing it! Don’t go by your Gut. Test your Hypotheses with prospective customers. RECORD THEIR FEEDBACK and ITERATE. You may not like what they say about your idea/ offering but if they must buy your idea in the future, you better get it RIGHT before YOU GO ALL IN! DON’T BORROW MONEY TO SUPPORT YOUR IDEA. Quality is secondary, if proper budgeting is not done we struggle to maintain the man-day rates and that impacts to a certain extent on the quality of service, so we have to continuously balance the quality and cost of the service. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for ROSE Research and Promotions? Bharatbhushan Nirmal: We are not focusing of growing number of clients ( that has to come naturally) but main focus is on giving good service and generating repeat business. Getting higher number of clients has a disadvantage when we are not able to give proper attention and also there will be a lot of distraction. So satisfied clients will help by spreading word of mouth publicity. 5 Years down the line we want to have a very stable business with at least a branch in all the Metro Cities in India with a secure job to all the employees.     Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Lalith Dhanush: Throughout my school and college I was a very average student in academics. I used to feel very annoyed being in class because I used to never understand why we need to learn all this. It came to a point where I spent most of my time in extra-curricular activities, especially being on stage as I loved doing that. My extracurriculars grew so much that I won tons of competitions during my degree which boosted my morale. I was even named the President of my Student Council for the work I had put in. I applied for a couple of universities abroad to study masters in entrepreneurship because I felt working under someone was something I never want to do. Not just did I get placed in University of Limerick, Ireland, I also got a 25% scholarship. Best part about this was my marks had nothing to do with this scholarship, it was my extracurriculars, my skills that helped me bag it. In my final sem of Masters, my team and I got a chance to participate in an Entrepreneurial pitch contest hosted by CitiBank. We had to come up with a product or service that Solves a problem that exists in society. While brainstorming about different ideas it hit me that there is one problem all students face and complaints about back in India. The education system, how it doesn’t help us much because all we do is byheart concepts, throw it all out on our exam papers and then forget it as there is no practical application taught for most of the concepts. I was abroad on a scholarship only because I was clear that speaking on stage is what I really like and spent all the time in gathering various skills that can help me lead a successful life. It was this secret formula that became our business idea and we named our business More Than Textbook. A company that helps students find their true passion, upskill themselves and learn everything apart from the textbook that makes them successful. We won that contest along with another team. We got awarded 10,000 Euros for the contest while the other team got a chance to get incubated. At this time, it really hit me how powerful this idea is and how it can really change the future of India. Hence I took a one way back ticket to India, to start my own company called More Than Textbook to share the secret formula of career success with the youth of the country and revolutionize the education system. Lalith Dhanush: Covid19 outbreak. As a company that started in 2018 we were really climbing up the ladder one-step at a time. By the end of 2019, our progress was on a high, we had a lot of projects offline where we had impacted 10000+ students yet with the covid outbreak all colleges were forced to cut off most of the additional workshops and just focus on academics. It was a big hit for our company which forced us to create online courses, online funnels etc which we are continuously working on till date and hopefully will get back to our peak soon. Lalith Dhanush: Our future plan is to tie-up with the top colleges in Bangalore in such a way that we become a part of the curriculum. We are launching my own show called The Lalith Dhanush Show where we will invite people from all career spheres to understand how they got there and make it big in their career. I have also authored my own book which will soon be released about how anybody can take their career from average to unstoppable. With all this we aim to impact at least 100000 students and help them gain career clarity to live an unstoppable career.     Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Sagnik Ghosh: The idea of WorqHat mostly revolves around a problem that even I had faced. I was passionate about programming when I was about 14-15 years of age. Now, when I was in my 2nd Year of Computer Science Engineering, and I was completing some courses from an Online Platform, I realised that I came up with a lot of questions, and I wanted to contact someone, maybe even a senior, to help me with my doubts. Also, the cost of Education has been rising daily, so I wanted to build a platform where students could connect with mentors, educators, industrial professionals and even their peers, who can act as a support for the student throughout his University Journey. Most of the EdTech companies in the higher education sector are teaching through Pre-Recorded Video Lectures and coaching students to build more and more projects but they have very limited one-to-one doubt clearance/guidance & Mentoring session and students are unable to get feedback on what they are doing. Amarnath Sankar : The single piece of advice for someone kickstarting his/her journey as an entrepreneur is this, that person should start it out of the passion that person carries in his/her heart, because I truly believe that the passion in our domain and the willingness to upgrade ourselves is what makes someone a successful entrepreneur.

    Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Meena C Shah: Many years ago, as I taught my son, I would look up American websites which had downloadable worksheets for children. Of course, this was not entirely according to the Indian syllabus. Thus, I decided to create this for our children so that it helps them with their school work. Thus, parents can download these worksheets from the Starchild Marketplace. I have opened this avenue for educators who too want to sell their educational products. My son would also play a lot of educational games on his computer which we had got on floppies from relatives abroad. He would be very engrossed in doing his Grammar, Maths, Science and even some Geography. He loved studying this way. His concepts and foundation became very strong due to this. Thus, with the advent of the digital world, I decided that we must give our children this advantage and went on to create Starchild’s Mission Play2Learn. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Starchild Education and Learning Meena C Shah: Starchild offers - Mission Play2Learn – an academic quizzing platform where children can solve interactive quizzes and worksheets while being engaged in a game. As they solve, these worksheets are automatically graded, they are awarded marks too. This game has 10 levels. As the child crosses each level, he is rewarded with medals and titles. This motivates the child to do more. We also have the Starchild Leaderboard which shows the top 10 students. The Starchild Marketplace – where downloadable worksheets are available.
