Raaj Nadaar: I was heading sales teams at companies in 2014 and before, and whenever I outsourced outbound lead generation, I'd consistently face three issues: a) prospects agree to meetings but don't show up b) Prospects who show up have no context of why they are here, they are here to kill time or out of curiosity and c) this one is a killer :) prospects who show up aren't really prospects, meaning they are not high enough in the totem pole to make or even influence buying decisions. When we did this inhouse, the results were diametrically opposite w/ a) real prospects showing up b) prospects showing up w/ context, with some rapport already built c) people who agree show up more than 90% of the time which is a good 50% above industry average. I had to take this model out to be able to serve more than just the one company I was working with at the time. We usually just let go of such customers rather than holding on to them hoping they'll change to make sure we work on projects that are symbiotic. Vignesh: Since, this concept was fairly new in dating apps, we found it difficult to make people understand how the app works and how safe it is initially. Vignesh: It is impossible to judge someone by looking at their DP with filters and googled bio within seconds. The work around from physical training to virtual was a BIG challenge, but we were training virtually by mid May 2020. We had to let go of many a client, because of ACube being a Lady led business. Quality is rarely looked at but costing is emphasized on. Pricing is another challenge, due to the dilution in the training industry. I once met a gentleman in my travels for training. We go talking and he said “I am an international trainer too”. I was so happy and asked him where he had trained. His answer still makes me jitter. “I was visiting my son and his company wanted me to talk about my experiences. I did that for an hour. That’s why I am an international trainer”. Since trainings moved online during the pandemic, its actually become a circus. The social media is filled with people who call themselves trainers. Some are vending training material. The colleges and corporate houses have also become very clever. They say, do one program for us for free. We need to understand how you do it. So we get all the content ready, go online and train their students. The Placement Officer doesn’t come back to us nor receives calls. Padmaja Muralidhar: Personally, I love training the students in need of a job desperately. They would have studied in vernacular medium, so getting a job in MNCs will be a challenge for therm. I see a growth in the CSR funded training sector in colleges for placements. A little down the lane, having a foundation/NGO of our own to work with students in need. Metros or Tier 1 city students will not need the training for placement but the Tier 2 and downwards, will NEED it. One speciality of ours is that we avoid sharp corners while designing, there are two reasons for this. First is that it is harmful, secondly sharp edges denote a dead stop to design, whereas curved edges signify continuity of design or object. We also try to avoid solid partitions in our interiors, whether it's a brick wall or solid partition we try to take off if it's not needed, and give openness to a space. Prachi Jain: As everyone knows Interior is a very vast field with lots of materials introduced everyday, so it becomes compulsory for us to be updated with the market and trends that are upgrading daily. Also we need to be precise about detailing because even if a single thing is missed out it can affect your design. We need to be very attentive on site, executing the same designs as per given details for this we need to give proper attention. Interior designers need a lot of management, working in an office, visiting sites regularly, helping clients with selections, being updated with trends and materials, managing all at once can be bustling. Even if you're an exceptional designer or have amazing designs in your mind, poor management can ruin your project, so a designer always has to be on his toes juggling around. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Cubix Global? Prachi Jain: As our firm is named Cubix Global, just like that we wish to expand globally. People in India are more keen towards interiors done abroad, as they focus more on technical stuff and make day to day life easy. Most young generations have this style and are determined towards western culture. Every person needs to have comfortness in their living space and I wish to bring that luxury and comfortness that every normal person dreams of to his doorstep. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Prachi Jain: I would suggest to the upcoming generation to focus on education, and take a degree in a particular field. And at least work for 5 years with some firm and get well trained. Do not rush into starting with their own projects or a firm, because even after investing so many years in education one needs to have practical knowledge.

So many challenges were ahead in the entire operations of this enterprise. There were many challenges along the successful working of this enterprise which are listed as follows: 1. The biggest challenge was to assemble a competent and knowledgeable team to carry out the operations and complete running of the technical aspects of the users and customers. 2. Sourcing the right and quality material was another challenge. 3. Now when we had a team and the sourcing of the material was done finding the potential customers was a bigger challenge. 4. During the course of work another challenge surfaced as to how to increase our brand awareness in the potential market. 5. Money management was another challenge that was on the scales of running our enterprise. 6. Lastly during the running of the enterprise we the management found out that this business entity is primarily dependent on the founder that is myself for the complete operations of this enterprise. To make the operations of this enterprise self dependent was a big task for this a complete rework of the entire business model was required. Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Disha Shah: My company is a pandemic baby. I was forced to move away from the city with my 3 little babies to a simple town of South Gujarat - Vapi. With Toy shops closed - I simply couldn’t find the right sort of toys for my babies Samara, Arjun & Ara. My family is into the Textile and Corrugated Paper Business – both under essential services – So I let my imagination run wild and used scraps from both these factories to create toys – not only to play with but also those that will help them in learning basic Pre-Kindergarten concepts. With schools closed I was also responsible to homeschool them and make sure that they are continuously growing. Children have an absorbent mind which peaks at 6 years of age – and they ought to learn most life skills or set the tone of their adult character from the beginning. When the world started to see my creations – my personal instagram following increased. I had calls daily from friends and family asking me to send those scraps of cloth and paper for their children to play with. Each of those toys that I made became the basis of Prototypes for most SKU’s we have at GrapplerTodd today. When things started to open up – I first found my Business Partner Himanshu Bhandare – who has a solid Production & logistics to start producing those prototypes on a commercial basis – and I started developing our website and forming Sales channels for our products. My children remain an integral part of the GrapplerTodd testing team who have not been afraid to speak their minds on when I got a design right and also when I need to go back to the drawing board. All the prototypes are first got into my home environment – and only once its approved by my Child Officers – we go to the next step. We also are competing with substandard use of inks , paints and dyes which is a deterrent to pricing. Also our toys are not cheap and not with people with a mindset that my child will outgrow it someday and the toy will go to a landfill. Being a mom of 3 – and coming from a very large family , I have received so many hand me down toys. At GrapplerTodd we are focusing on making Heirloom Toys – something that can be passed down generations. Another bigger challenge is that of design. Being a new entrant – from drawing board to a retail shelf we are looking at anything between 6-8 months. So we are slower in removing variants and adapting to seasons and festivals. We are also learning on the job about E-Comm Retailing – it is no longer a dream that is turned to reality – it is a dream that lead us on a roller coaster ride. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for GrapplerTodd LLP? Disha Shah: We are very excited that our Active Architects series is selling like Hot Cakes through our social media and on our website. That is the core of our Independent Play Series. We have many pre-orders for all the variants with 2 big distributors – which gives us faith that we are working in the right direction. The next 5 years – it will be all about expanding the Series - for the child to be able to make his or her own city – it can have everything he ever imagines – from a Football Stadium to a Hospital to a Dinosaur Theme Park. The child is the maker of his universe ! On the Montessori Learning Aids front – right now we have SKU’s that cater to the toddler enviorment – like Flashcards, Dressing Frames etc. with the growing number of Montessori Elementary Schools – we are excited to add more Montessori Materials for the high levels. We slowly want to become a one stop shop to set up Montessori Environment company. We have orders from three Montessori School’s in Mumbai and we have just bagged an order from a Montessori School in Bangalore Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Disha Shah: Don’t let someone tell you that this industry is too crowded and there are many giants – how will you compete ? People will scare you everyday – Rather I keep asking myself everyday – this industry is too crowded – How is my product different from every other giant – this helps me each time I’m at the drawing board to make sure my product is unique and adding value to my consumer. On the personal front – this is my 5th Business that I have started – the last 4 – its not that I didn’t make money - I have never made a loss in all the 4 previous businesses. Infact the last business was bought over completely by an investor. But they didn’t challenge me – or they didn’t excite me. This is my 5th Business – and sometimes people laugh – but I always tell people I’m a serial Entrepreneur. I have the conviction that my ideas are money making. I want to laugh at the person who told me 6 months ago – that my prototypes are made from paper and scraps from textile – how will they make money ?
