- Bivin Jacob, CoFounder at SecIQ Technologies
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Bivin Jacob : Cyber security is my passion & I have been in this domain for quite some time. The trigger to start SecIQ Technologies was when me and my friends found an obvious security issue in one of the well-known mobile applications from a start-up, which could impact millions of users. We reached out to them, helped them to fix the vulnerabilities and hence secured them from a huge potential data breach. That experience made us realize that most of the start-ups currently are racing with time and is striving to get their ideas productized at the earliest – But in this race security has become an afterthought for most organizations. There are about 41,061 ( https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/startups/what-economic-survey-2020-21-says-about-indias-startup-ecosystem/articleshow/80586774.cms?from=mdr ) active Start-Ups in India & it’s exponentially growing. With technologies that are evolving, a lot of these companies are bringing in products which are integral part of day-to-day life for users. Right from travel to ordering food during this lockdown, the usage of Mobile, web & IOT apps is drastically increasing and along with this is the increase in cyber-crimes. Due to huge cost, many start-ups do not prefer to maintain an in-house security team early nor are they able to invest in tools and process till they have matured their product. This opens a huge potential for offering security as a service to most of these organizations. That’s where we felt there is need to address this gap and a great opportunity to work as an extended security team - providing them with best-in-class security service for an affordable cost for every start-up. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by SecIQ Technologies Bivin Jacob : We are a pure-play information security consulting firm with extremely skilled team of security professionals, researchers and thought leaders all dedicated to one cause — providing our clients with the best cyber security Service possible. We provide end to end product security assessments for complete lifecycle across various technologies - right from building in security requirements early in the life-cycle to design/ architecture reviews, Security code review, Vulnerability assessment & penetration testing (VAPT), Network architecture reviews, Cloud security review and Red teaming exercise. We best-in-class security assessments, training, and consulting services. Great Companies: What makes SecIQ Technologies different from hundreds of other Cyber security consulting firms ? Bivin Jacob: As a consulting firm, we strongly believe in our expert technical team. Many times, with just one opportunity we have surprised our customers by identifying critical security vulnerabilities in their products which have been tested earlier - for even a decade. This has helped them realise the value add of SecIQ and the unique skill-set that we bring in. The core differentiating factor is in depth manual approach combined with automation and home-grown script that enables us to exploit vulnerabilities from a hacker standpoint, which traditional scanners will not identify. Another differentiating factor is that we work in a very flexible fashion with tailor-made services to meet the customer’s security requirements. We don’t just find and report security vulnerabilities, we also stand as a strong extended security team helping them with their end-to-end security requirements like training's, consulting, support in terms of incident response, specialized security audits and reviews. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Bivin Jacob : For a growing organization like us, the biggest challenge is to scale for the growing demand. There is huge demand in the industry and as technology evolves newer challenges are emerging in for all the existing customers and beyond. Adding to that, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on many of the security challenges organizations are currently facing. With information security domain being a niche area, we are at a challenging phase to scale at breadth and to meet the growing demands. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for SecIQ Technologies? Bivin Jacob : Hackers seem to be more active since pandemic and have been keeping us busy as well. There is 37% increase in Cybercrimes in India during this pandemic and the demand for this Cybersecurity domain is definitely growing. Pandemic has never been able to set-us down, rather with all the unprecedented situations, as an organization we have learnt to positively work through the challenges. We have been on the positive trajectory so far and in the next 5 years, we aim to be one of the market leaders for information security in our country. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Bivin Jacob : “Satisfaction is a rating; loyalty is a brand”- Shep Hyken. Just as any start-up, we had our own share of struggle in the initial days. It requires a lot of patience and endurance for the opportunity to prove yourself to the customer, to gain their confidence and let the world know about your brand. Once that is proven, then Sky is the Limit to achieve. “Customer is your king” - Treat all the customers equally delivering your best service, irrespective of how small or how huge an organization they may be. “Forget about your competitors, just focus on your customers” – Jack Ma (Founder, Alibaba Group) No matter what the product or service may be, the only chance you have to succeed above the rest is to ensure that you are in constant touch with the needs and concerns of your customer. A satisfied customer is your brand’s spokesperson.
- Jagadeesh Kanna, Founder at Vaayusastra Aerospace
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Jagadeesh Kanna: Vaayusastra Aerospace is basically a combination of knowledge I acquired from two fields Aeronautical engineering and Theatre arts, live performances, the experience I got from theatre training transformed me into a totally a different personality. When I was a full time actor I faced two issues one is revenue generation and other is lot of free time for a workaholic like me this free time forced me to create something which could help me to overcome my stress and anxiety and also solve my revenue problems. So I started conducting workshops on Aeronautics with paper planes as I know how to make 80 varieties of plane with different structural and aerodynamic properties learnt during my masters. During one of the session my theatre trainer Yog jeppe suggested “why don’t you add some mythological story to this, we can find so many stories with flight connect” the first story is Daedalus and Icarus story from Greek mythology. It was well received and children started ask for similar stories, the journey started there. When the feature film I acted released this workshop model started to receive more attention. One of my friend told me IIT Madras will support innovative ideas. I reached out to IITM RTBi mentioned about the idea but I did not had any business plan or knowledge of how to start a business. Team RTBI and IIT Incubation cell started to train with their mentor clinics. After 6 months process we created a basic business plan. Then after the interview process we got incubated under RTBi. Most mentors reviewed and told vaayusastra method is not scalable or won’t generate revenue in the interview round. I got emotional and shouted for their feedback thinking they never going to call me back again. I got call from RTBi Team to meet Ashok jhunjunwala, I was thiking its going to be some advice session but ashok sir agreed to take us in after listening to the idea. After 3 years we are now grown up into a 1 crore turnover business with 15+ full time aeronautical engineers and 30+ part time theatre artist. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Vaayusastra Aerospace Jagadeesh Kanna: Airscience workshop for children of Age group – 5 to 14 yrs : A combination science + story + Hands on science experiments, it’s a in person classroom program segregated into 3 age groups 5-7, 8-10, 11-14 – each age group has 9 levels Airscience advanced level program for college students & 15+ age category : Focused on hands on learning experience for college students under electives Vaayu – Basic Aerodynamics for all Vimaan – anything flies below 15km range, UAV, Drone, Aircraft structures etc., Agni – 15km to 160km – Rocket technology, re-entry vehicles Akash – 160km and above – satellites, space crafts, orbital vehicles etc., Adhisaya Parimana – 3D printing for all the above categories Online modules: Trigger the spark – an online outreach program – 10 days program with 9 modules in it for 5 to 14+ age group Basic Aerodynamics – an online outreach program for 15+ age group Exclusive program for pilot aspirants “The Pilot show / How to become a pilot / Pilot ground classes” Great Companies: What makes Vaayusastra Aerospace different from competitors? Jagadeesh Kanna: Most of competitors who do knowledge transfer as main work using hands on experiments focus 14+ age group or make it totally into science based education which gives an impression it’s something very technical to learn. What vaayusastra do is break down the concepts from age 5 in a story telling format with easy and replicable science models in home. We also combine their school science curriculum in the session to make it useful for their school education as well. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Jagadeesh Kanna: There are challenges in training the Aeronautical engineers and Theater actors, offline delivery have to be improvised depends on the students unlike online recorded sessions, trainers have to understand children psychology and make them feel comfortable and we make sure children treat out trainer as their friends. We don’t mention these as struggle these as challenging. The struggle we actually face is convincing the investor to understand this model, they usually say “they can’t predict its scalability or its impossible to scale it up” sometime it make me feel depressed to hear this even after showing three years of growth and even during pandemic company performed well with online modules reaching out 8+ countries Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Vaayusastra Aerospace? Jagadeesh Kanna: In Next five years we are planning to cover every district in south India or at-least minimum all over Tamilnadu with our offline programs and plans to go around the world with our online modules. Our franchise model for offline programs ready which we will be launching very soon. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Jagadeesh Kanna: If you have a good team which can understand your vision and ready to travel with you we can achieve anything. But as founders or Team leads we also have to consider about employee personal growth that can be as simple as enhancing their skill sets, encouraging their unique talents, providing basic platforms to expose their talents etc., basically it helps to build trust factor inside the team.

- Rinu Kurien Babu, Founder at Clear Picture Consulting
Great Companies : How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Rinu Kurien Babu : While doing my MBA, my favorite subject was Marketing Communications, incidentally, my best scoring subject as well. So after the MBA, I was definitely looking at joining the Advertising Industry. I started working on bigger and bigger brands as I escalated in my career, it was while working in a Bangalore based mid sized agency as its CEO, that I stumbled upon the fact that a lot of SMEs are working with freelancers, where it was more like a run of the mill jobs. There was no clear picture on the brand development plan at all. That was the moment I decided, I want to be in that space, to be the agency for SMEs and startups where we become their strong long term strategical brand partner. Great Companies : What are the various Services provided by Clear Picture Consulting? Rinu Kurien Babu : Except events we handle all the touchpoints for a brand. It could be a company which is just getting started, where in we could develop their complete brand identity package to an already running brand which is looking at a complete rebranding or a new project from a company. Any new company that we work with, we do a brand audit to understand the present state of the brand communications, and we start from there. Hence from logos to coffee table books or brochures to corporate websites to lead generation campaigns, we handle it all. Great Companies : What makes Clear Picture Consulting different from hundreds of other Brand Strategy & Design Agencies? Rinu Kurien Babu : There are few major highlights which make us stand apart from the hundreds or thousands of other branding companies around (which is even specifically mentioned in our website as well). We are not here just to make money, whichever company we work with, we are equally or sometimes more passionate about its brand development. We always work with the companies as a part of them, hence we go to any extend to make sure that the work we did is going to give the desired results. Another reason is the fact that we are a strategy first design company, we look for reasoning in any work we do. All the aesthetically smart designs that we deliver is based on a stronger strategical thought. Unfortunately most of the design companies are not. Great Companies : What are the struggles and challenges you face? Rinu Kurien Babu : One of the main challenges is finding the right people, advertising is a people driven industry. We have been extremely selective in terms of the people whom we take on board, we ensure that they are equally passionate as we are. One of the other main challenges is about making the clients understand the value or impact of a fresh idea. The sad fact is that most of the clients in any industry are very skeptical on new ideas or promotions, they always like to follow the herd and be on a safer side than experimenting. Great Companies : How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Clear Picture Consulting? Rinu Kurien Babu : We as a company are on an auto pilot mode right now, we will be expanding only very organically, that has been the plan from day 1. Since advertising & marketing communications is one of the main pillars of any business, we will be working on other startup ideas and products. We are very well aware about our strength, so we will constantly be looking at areas where design is the base. We have one more subsidiary vertical which focuses on wedding card design. In fact as we speak, we are working on another idea on stealth mode. I would definitely want to be working on multiple segments wherever we feel there is a gap we can fill. Great Companies : If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Rinu Kurien Babu : I am not sure whether i can give you an advice, but i can definitely tell you what i have experienced and what i believe in. Whatever you want to start on, let money not be the reason for starting it, have a very strong passion for the problem that you’re trying to solve or the service that you are providing. Hard work is the other main component, i would say it’s one of the most essential ingredients for success, if you are extremely passionate to do something in life and work really hard to achieving that, i don't see anything stopping you from doing that.
- Vivek Mishra, Founder at FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT LTD
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Vivek Mishra : Silk is one of the oldest fibres known to man, it has a history as the richest fabric itself! There are silk sarees which are more than 100years old and are used for many generations even today; which highlight its excellent fabric and material property. When it comes to exploring its non-textile use, the application of Silk in the medical field started in the 19th century when it replaced traditional metal wires as a suture material. Today, Silk is studied extensively for its biomedical use. It is the most diverse, model biomaterial due to its remarkable properties like high mechanical strength, biocompatible, non cytotoxic, thermo-stable, low-immunogenic and biodegradable. These unique properties of Silk, spurred our research to use it as a newer and safer biomaterial for tissue regeneration, supporting cellular functions for faster healing and closure of wounds. I always had a desire to do something new and challenging which can impact many lives and this gave a birth to “Fibroheal – Silk protein derived wound management solutions”. The purpose to start the venture was to solve a genuine problem of acute and chronic non-healing wounds and the need gap in the wound care management. When we started our journey, we found our co-promoter Bharat Tandon who had built a company in animal health space and it was of great help in terms of various networks particularly towards product development. Also, along the journey, we got our other co-promoter Subramanian S. who had built 2nd largest suture manufacturing company and brought rich experience of medical devices industry, good networks and we started galloping towards our vision. Secondly, we at FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT LTD always wanted to bring socio-economic multiplier effect with our innovation and work i.e from Silk growers (farmers side), surgeons (user side) and patients. As India is the second largest silk producing country in the world after China. More than 80 lakh people are directly or indirectly dependent on Sericulture farming and it is used primarily in textiles. “If biomaterial application gains traction, it may lead to an increase in farmers’ incomes, in addition to bringing down treatment costs through the use of innovative, indigenous technology, and healing wounds quickly with improved outcomes and quality of life. Thirdly, due to increasing ageing population worldwide and the high prevalence of lifestyle diseases and chronic diseases among the elderly and high cost of treatment, we wanted to work on newer biomaterial which can be cost effective and affordable for patients and at the same time decrease the load on hospitals and ease the work of doctors / nursing staff with faster turnaround time. Great Companies: What are the various products and services provided by FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT. LTD. Vivek Mishra : FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT. LTD. products cater to the advance and active wound care category. We offer products in different forms such as sheet, mesh, foam, powder, particles, gel, ointment etc, to treat acute and chronic wounds, infected, non-infected, slow healing, non-healing and difficult to heal wounds. Great Companies: What makes FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT. LTD. different from hundreds of Healthcare Startups? Vivek Mishra : · We are the first company from India and few in the world to be working on this versatile biomaterial called “Silk proteins”, which gives us the leverage of being pioneers in using Silk proteins as biomaterial for wound healing. · Our research work is well appreciated by the government and supported by Grants. We are supported by Dept. of Biotechnology Govt. of India, BIRAC, CCAMP, Dept. of IT, BT & ST GoK, Technology Development Board (TDB) Govt. of India etc. · We have patented technological products in our basket. · We have won prestigious awards like; a. National Technology Award 2020 b. Best IP Managed MedTech Start-up 2021 c. Start-up of the Year 2020 d. The most innovative biotech start-up 2019 · Technical expertise, young and dynamic team in place with experienced and stable management · We have developed more than 10 products since inception and the products are successfully commercialized in the market. · We as a company have a clear road map to develop products to address to different stages of wounds comprehensively. · Very few Indian companies are working in medical devices which has its own research. We are a R&D driven deep-tech start-up having science at its core. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Vivek Mishra : It has been an enterprising journey but every struggle and challenge helped us to become a better organization. Few which I want to highlight is doubting your ideas certain times, few wrong hires, handling egos and conflicts among people, dealing with different external stakeholders. Becoming emotional about certain decisions or ideas can be detrimental to your peace, decision making ability and your venture. I realized that the fund crunch, regulatory approvals or sales and business developments, maintaining liquidity which you initially worry about hampers the company’s growth, but the people, their commitment, their egos and their openness to take it as a challenge and building up a company is what counts. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for FIBROHEAL WOUNDCARE PVT. LTD.? Vivek Mishra : We aspire to be one of the most comprehensive wound care Indian company catering to entire gamut of wound management, offering comprehensive solutions to entire wound care continuum. We want to set a perfect example of “Being Local Going Global” which is in line with our prime ministers’ vision of “Vocal for Local” & “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Vivek Mishra : Overall, to build a startup, I feel, passion is the main key and letting go of few things and situations should not be allowed to occupy space in your head is the key. You need to face challenges yet be brave and prudent while maintaining a positive approach.
- Hemaang Gandhi, Founder at Rioconn Interactive Pvt Ltd
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Hemaang Gandhi: This is an interesting story. Around 2009 August, I had just left behind a hectic stint as Chief Marketing Officer for Pratham Group (Real Estate) in Baroda and was planning to start something of my own or maybe joining one of the family businesses. A friend working for a real estate developer asked me to suggest a communication agency for his organization. In a detailed conversation, he suggested that I take up the assignment as a consultant or work as an agency for I had a good exposure from the client-side in working with various agencies. In the next day's meeting he introduced me to his management where they asked me to hire a few people and work as per the presentation I submitted. That's how Rioconn was started.. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Rioconn Interactive Private Limited Hemaang Gandhi: Rioconn is a full service agency. Since day 1 we haven't differentiated between the offline / online clients and have given them equal weightage. Our services include brand strategy development and deployment, creative services, social media management, digital marketing activities, SEO and last but not the least web & app development. Great Companies: What makes Rioconn Interactive Private Limited different from hundreds of other Digital Marketing firms? Hemaang Gandhi : I would say 3 things - people, planning and passion. Though a medium scale agency, our policies have given room to our people to explore avenues in their day to day activities and the subsequent exposure has made them experts in their own field. Rioconn is a melting pot of ideas and chaotic at the surface but there is always a calm in our chaos because deep down, Rioconn has nurtured a talent that is impeccable in its planning.I don't recollect a single incident where we have missed a deadline; forget the onboarded clients but not even for the client pitch. There is a passion in everything we do. We get involved with every bit of our being in the work and act as a catalyst to provide desired results to our clients. This allows our team and client both to stay longer with us. On record, our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd client as well as the first few team members are working with us even today. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Hemaang Gandhi: In the initial phase the struggle was getting good team members and of course, clients who pay us well. That struggle continues even today. Ahmedabad, though a rapidly growing market, has the presence of some large agencies. At the same time, we also have agencies coming in from Mumbai to acquire some of the best local brands. A middle-level agency's dilemma is either to stay local and relevant or expand in the other markets and strain the resources. Fortunately, Rioconn has successfully executed the strategy of being locally relevant as well as getting clients from the cities like Mumbai, Surat and even some in the overseas market. Our flexible approach has won us quite a few clients from big-ticket agencies as well. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Rioconn Interactive Private Limited? Hemaang Gandhi: Post Covid Scenario is quite different. Even the clients who never believed in digital, have started looking at digital as one of the core tools for their promotional and branding strategy. At Rioconn we believe in constantly focusing on innovative methods of integrating new tools and technologies in the brand strategy to help brands expand their reach and generate better recall. Rioconn soon will have a team working full time on futuristic tools for AI, VR, and Machine Learning Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Hemaang Gandhi: The era of conventional creative agency and traditional digital marketing has gone. If you have something extra (even an idea) which can deliver better ROI for the client, as well as connect them to their audience faster through your cultural IQ, then this is the field to be in.
- Komal Lath, Founder at Tute Consult
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Komal Lath: Was a mix of several reasons actually - I was always bitten by the proverbial “entrepreneurial bug” and had the urge to do something of my own at some point in my career. When I started, the start-up culture was in the upswing and challenging traditional business models. The media landscape had also started evolving rapidly with digital becoming mainstream. That’s when I sensed that there could be an opportunity here to offer a highly personalized yet scalable service to clients (both new and old) without using the same cookie-cutter approach which was the norm. The trigger was to be able to create a future-ready organization wherein not only do you learn the nuances of new-age media and traditional communication but also deep dive into the business of the brand to make meaningful impact. Gaps and solutions was the key idea behind starting this. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Tute Consult Komal Lath : We provide marcom aka Marketing Communications. This includes: • Communications Consultancy • Public Relations (Owned, Earned and Paid) • Media and native planning • Experiences • Digital media Great Companies: What makes Tute Consult different from hundreds of other Marketing Communication firms? Komal Lath : Agility – to actually be agile and not for lip service.Futuristic (we are not stuck on that time warp which many agencies are) Very very integrated. We can speak the digitally native language and are skilling to use AI etc for bringing our customers at the centre of every conversation Work Culture – we are not all work and no play. The safe zone provided, perks of being able to explore ideas without inhibitions and personal growth! Result oriented – all our clients are walking testimonials of how we breathe life into brands that make them stand out. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Komal Lath : Hiring – to be able to get talent which has the will and skill combined for the job is always a tough task. But we invest a lot of time and resources in training Being able to explain that PR is not Free Editorial but strategic which combines POEM’s (paid, owned and earned media services) It is not a service to be compared to digital. Both are different with differing KPI’s. A 2 year experienced person is not a “guru”, “maven” or “expert”. That internalization and “quick NOW NOW NOW” approach is very impractical and a house of cards that will collapse Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Tute Consult? Komal Lath : Invest more skills and training in AI and using data. We already use AI for content and discoveries. The idea would be to use machine learning to automate at large scale Work with more global brands than current and make India the centre focus for some great campaigns and work in this field. Give back by investing in children and youth of today. Adopt many for sponsoring their education Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Komal Lath : Focus on the beautiful journey. It’s going to be bumpy but worth it! Website : www.tute.co.in

- Bidit Roy, Founder at Bluebird Moving Stories
Great Companies : How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Bidit Roy : In short - While I was working in IT in 2014, I had founded a social collective by the name MYOM (Make Your Own Movement) wherein we engaged in community welfare activities over the weekends. During those days I started making short post-activity videos and then once made a 15 min amatuer documentary for a mega fundraiser event MYOM had organized. The positive recognition and my newly developed interest made me want to explore more. Few months later I quit IT and started working in a couple of small firms to develop my skills on the job and learn the trade. Post that I freelanced for a couple of years before embarking on Jagriti Yatra in 2018 - the world's largest entrepreneurial expedition. It's a 15 day train journey across India where we met and learnt from changemakers in urban and rural India along with 450 other young co-travelers. It was the most transforming experience so far. We deliver solutions which personifies the story of the Founders or the values of the organization and the people in it. The non-fiction films which we produce in-house are crafted to share the stories in the most authentic way by utilizing few signature traits like - only utilizing the voice of protagonists and Cinema Verite style of production. This becomes our USP. Great Companies : What are the struggles and challenges you face? Bidit Roy : 1. Finding 'driven' and dependable people is a challenge. Most people tend to jump ships quite often these days which significantly impacts ongoing projects or the future plans. 2. Open mindedness of clients is a rare sight. They want something novel but are either not clear in their heads or are not willing to experiment. 3. Artists are taken for granted. It takes immense effort to create something on a blank canvas and it is very easy to critique a finished product. Only if the stakeholders really get their hands dirty in the process, then there might be a bit more appreciation and value for the creator and the content. Great Companies : How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Bluebird Moving Stories? Bidit Roy : I see Bluebird Moving Stories as a place where causes and voices which are away from the spotlight get all the attention and support. A 'good' video story is the first touch-point for anyone to get associated with any individual, cause or organisation. And a 'good' film can come at a steep price. Bluebird wants to bridge the gap by leveraging the strengths of either party to create a win-win scenario with our upcoming ‘Flight of Bluebird’ initiative. Five year downstream, Bluebird is expected to grow into a small team of committed visual storytellers, and the YouTube channel as one of the prominent places for non-fiction, fiction and experimental content. Great Companies : If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Bidit Roy : The answer lies in the question itself - Just start out! There are enough ideas with people but unless they are executed, the world will never get to see it. We need to understand the margin between planning and over planning because the moment we go into the 'over' zone, our natural instincts to attain stability and safety kicks in and that inhibits us from moving forward. Plans evolve with time; change is the only thing constant in this universe. Taking the initial steps is the most important part of any journey to understand its true potential.
- Dipankar Gupta, CoFounder at Suventure
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Dipankar Gupta: Suventure was the brainchild of my mentor and business partner - Mr Vir Bhanu. Having served maximum tenure of our career in IT services and consulting space, when we wanted to embark on the journey of entrepreneurship, IT Consulting and Services were but natural choices - We knew the space, the challenges that came with the engagement models and the rigamarole and day in & day out working on such projects. We wanted to leverage our learnings, experiences and bring out a services model that spelt success for our clients, stakeholders and everyone who was associated with us whilst addressing the challenges - known and unknown. We started out in Aug 2012 with 3 Co-Founders ( Vir, Harsha, and myself ) - playing with the idea and conceptualisation of our merit of business (including the business planning, financing, hiring, and modelling ) - and eventually, Suventure was born in Dec 2012. 9 years into our journey, we continue to learn, evolve and increase our experiences with yet the common goal that we had from start - work on next-generation technologies and use them to make a positive business impact for everyone who is associated with us - Customers, Employees and any Stakeholders. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Suventure Dipankar Gupta: Suventure has evolved as a company in its lifespan. Today, we are a “Digital and Technology Services Company” that continues to hold its ground with the usage of the latest technologies and stacks and bring value-added services for global customers. In 2020 - Suventure team decided to pursue three areas of operations namely IT services (Our continued consulting and IT managed services), Digital Media (Online, Publishing, OTT platform development) and Digital & e-commerce (our latest unit that caters to Digital Strategy, Digital Marketing and its components and eventually - Enablement and Transformational Services) Suventure has also overhauled our external offerings with a new perspective:- Build - to help companies in the stages of building blocks - be it developing applications, strategy or POC - we have our expertise to assist startups to Fortune 500 companies. Grow - to help companies in the growth stage - bringing positive impacts to revenue, streamlining processes, using IT, AI as enablers for automation and ensuring you reach the right audience with the right messaging. Run - For organisations that are looking at achieving steady-state operations, want support on an ongoing basis to manage their IT setup, Architecture, enhancements and new feature development - Suventure brings its capabilities on the table to support and maintain such applications and processes. Overall - we want to ensure that we are there to support our customers across their life journey of their mission-critical applications, product and service offerings and keeping in mind that Technology, AI, Applications and Digital Adoption will become the backbone of such businesses. Great Companies: What makes Suventure different from hundreds of other technology services companies? Dipankar Gupta: Today, we stand at a very unique stage compared to our competition. While most of the companies (that we consider our direct competition) are either IT services OR digital agencies, Suventure has successfully managed to bring a cross-over between both and we are able to marry both Digital enablement services with the adoption of the latest technologies to achieve our and our clients' purposes. Hence, we always present ourselves as a company that believes that Digital Adoption and Transformation is mandatory in today's business environment BUT it can’t be done without having Technology adoption in the backend. We can deliver both seamlessly. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Dipankar Gupta: I believe that struggles and challenges are an ongoing part of running our business operations. All functions in the company must work smoothly, like a well-oiled machine. line and a break can impact final delivery. So we continue to focus on building strong teams that can bring sales and projects, a strong recruitment function to ensure we can attract high-quality talent who can deliver based on our and end customers expectations and eventually all supporting functions like HR and Finance need to be running in smooth operations for things to fall in place. We always position ourselves as someone that our clients can depend on - and we can deliver when we partner, communicate in transparency and establish trust with our customers for them to get the best value from the entire organisation. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Suventure? Dipankar Gupta: Well, in the last decade of our journey - we have transformed the organisation from generic IT services to a more impactful company. I strongly believe that the services, offerings Suventure has today - are well in line with the expectations and needs of the market for us to grow in the right direction. We will continue putting our efforts to bring that impact, make our customers successful and grow with old ones and gain some new along the journey. In five years from now, I believe Suventure will continue to gain laurels from our customers, grow to be a more people-centric company will have our suite of products that are in the space of automation of business processes. We are committed and will continue to grow on our Service offerings. However - just to point out - we are not “married" to any technology stack and will evolve in this space with the latest tech adoptions that happen across the globe. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Dipankar Gupta: I can share some of our learnings for someone who wants to start on their own :- 1-Always have a team/ partners that have your back - As co-founders, we always covered each other whenever there was a need, and will continue to ensure that remains our strength. 2-Save for the rainy day - this is bound to happen and ups and downs are going to be a part of the journey - Always manage reserves that give you breathing space and time to ride the bad wave out. The sun always shines post the night! 3-Positive Attitude - goes a long way!!

- Natasha Lorraine Menezes, Founder at The WordsEdge
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Natasha Lorraine Menezes: Blogging and writing has always been a passion for me. During my 8 years working as a marketer, I realised that the bulk of the online world was slowly but gradually moving towards a content-driven world, not just for reading and learning, but for discovery and sometimes even purchase. At this time, content marketing was really just in its nascent stage. We weren’t even using the term professionally and it wasn’t a buzzword then.My experience in Retail, combined with my passion for writing made me wonder, what if I could merge the two worlds? Being someone who takes risks but of the “calculated” kinds, I just had to pass one last test in the real world to prove my theory, and fortunately it worked. Within the first few months, I bagged three clients, mainly medium and large businesses with only word-to-mouth marketing as a strategy. I soon realised I was in the right space, and the road ahead seemed obvious. Besides this, I’ve also always had the entrepreneurial itch. Trying to one-up my previous achievements and set the bar higher is just something I try to do as often as I can. Building a startup was really a great way to invest some of that energy. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by The Words Edge? Natasha Lorraine Menezes: The Words Edge offers digital marketing services for companies, with a specialization in marketing content. These include execution strategies for content via blogs, influencers, cataloguing, gamified content, e-magazines, graphic design, social media, websites, videos, infographics, as well as emailers and branding. With our services, you can be sure to see results not just for the short-term but for the seemingly unknown future. Our content really moves the needle between “content to engage” and “content to convert”. Moreover, because our content is backed by a marketing objective, for customers, this means high ROI and cost-effectiveness, making it really a one-of-kind offering. No two marketing plans are the same, and no two content strategies should be. All of our content is 100% unique and marketing-goals-driven. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Natasha Lorraine Menezes: Running a startup is chaotic business, and being a single founder, even more. The sheer amount of responsibilities, deadlines and finances can take a toll on you if you aren’t prepared. The one thing I’ve learnt about managing a business is to learn to prioritise. When I first started out, I was faced with the question that I’m sure is on every entrepreneur’s mind - is leaving behind an established career worth it? Thankfully, I’ve developed a wonderful support network over the years and have a great team to back my adventures.Over time, you also realise that some things are not in your control, and you just have to let them go. When you think about it, really, the work has to go on; nothing else at this point is more important. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for The Words Edge? Natasha Lorraine Menezes: So far, The Words Edge has worked with 100+ brands spanning MNCs as well as SMEs and unicorn startups in India. We’ve created more than 10,000 pieces of content and want to continue in the same vein, and become a reliable and trusted leader in the content marketing space. We want to be able to scale and have a solution for every size of company, and for every kind of budget. On a personal level, there’s always room to improve. I hope to be able to further hone my skills and stay ahead of the industry curve for as long as possible. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Natasha Lorraine Menezes: Gain as much experience and knowledge as possible before starting out - having a community of entrepreneurs to learn from and grow with is ideal. Try to recruit people who share your vision, it doesn’t matter where they come from or how much experience they have. Also, learn to take calculated risks. Finally, dream big, learn, adapt, and stay prepared for when the going gets tough, because it will, but if you survive, you’ll know you have a fighting shot at achieving your dreams!
