Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Sandeep Khetarpal: After 30 years in the tourism business, I have seen that the travel agents across India struggle in connecting and working with the genuine DMC's. • Nihar Sharma, Founder at Sustainable Tourism Foundation

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Nihar Sharma: The thought occurred to me on a travel to the Himalayas. I saw the devastating impact of increasing tourism and commercialization of the remote destinations in the Himalayas. The menace of garbage, with no means of proper disposal or recycling is witnessed everywhere, increasingly polluting the rivers and erstwhile pristine locations. There is an increasing pressure on the resources and the need to realize that the current model of growth is not sustainable, for either tourism or the communities affected. The need for sustainability became blatantly apparent and I did not find many operators in this area providing holistic solutions for the same. Hence, I took the plunge myself. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Sustainable Tourism Foundation Nihar Sharma: Our services are classified in three categories: Advocacy, Advisory and Action. The service vehicles for our Advocacy Services and creating awareness include - Seminars, Conferences, Webinars, and Training Programs (offline & online) on sustainability and responsible tourism for Hotels, Tour Operators, and Travel Companies. We conduct experiential awareness camps for schools, educational institutions, corporates, and general travelers. Our Advisory services for the hotels, tour operators, travel agencies, local authorities and corporates include consulting & advisory for development of policies, SOPs, best practices, and standards etc. for responsible travel, energy & resource efficiency, community based tourism, water conservation, waste management, environment restoration, local heritage & culture preservation, empowering local communities, planning for circular economy and carbon footprint reduction and offset etc. In a nutshell addressing how the organization can contribute to circular economy, keeping triple bottom line as fulcrum of growth and minimizing carbon footprint of the organization, their employees, clients, and the communities the live within. Our Action engagement is through research and the interventions recommended based on research findings, conducting trainings for sensitization, awareness, capability building & skill development. We engage with stakeholders to manage sustainability at destination & responsible tourism development projects. Executing self-initiated and sponsored projects / campaigns related to sustainable tourism, responsible tourism, ecotourism, community development etc. Great Companies: What makes Sustainable Tourism Foundation different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Nihar Sharma: There are few service providers in our area of work. Those that are providing the services in this area, are fragmented and focus mostly on training and rating the industry members on a certain criterion or they work on one aspect of the problem. But the problem needs to be looked at holistically, with a Systems thinking. Similarly, the solutions can only work if they are well rounded from a Systems perspective. We do that. Our aim and actions are holistic, and we close the loop with on-ground action. We begin with creating awareness about the issues and solutions, then help the industry plan and implement changes; to close the loop we ensure appropriate actions, bridging the gaps in implementation, and upskilling the stakeholders to continue the work sustainably. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Nihar Sharma: Well, there is no dearth of struggles and challenges, and I would classify these into two segments. One is from the organization sustenance perspective and other from the industry environment perspective. Initially, soon as we started up, the tourism industry was hit its worst, due to covid pandemic, and the funding we were about to get, was promptly withheld. That lead to a sudden crisis as some of our industry experts backed out. We became short of funds and of people. We had to park some of our projects. But we continued our efforts on a smaller than planned scale. With help from family and friends, we managed to see through the worst phase. We are hoping that it would be easier to secure funding for projects in the near future. The other challenge is the mindset of people, organizations, and polity. This will be our most challenging issue, for some time to come, as it is difficult to change the apathy, of the entire generations, to empathy. There is a near absolute apathy towards the environmental causes and consumerism is still usurping a large population across the globe. There is, unfortunately, a denial for the cause of carbon footprint, climate change, and the need for sustainability, which is the ultimate beneficiary of our work. However, we are hopeful and optimistic in the wake of more people gradually becoming more aware and the younger generation understanding the need. We are gradually getting better responses compared to a couple of years ago. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Sustainable Tourism Foundation? Nihar Sharma: We have planned our growth trajectory on four factors; the number of active engagements, projects, geographical coverage, and quantum of community members benefitted. We are currently enhancing our consultant base and enrolling volunteers so that we can expand our physical and intellectual presence. We are also collaborating with, and grooming some of the local agencies, for projects in various geographical locations. In the next 5 years, we foresee ourselves present in at least 10 Indian states/ UTs, doing projects worth 100 crores, with help of volunteers from across the world and about 5-6 experts in each domain on our panel. We also foresee partnering with major international players beginning the next six months. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Nihar Sharma: The cliché reply would be - believe in yourself and give it your all. But I’m tempted to add, do your homework well before you incorporate your company, build relationships (network) as soon as you have your idea, gather information about the clients, industry, and the challenges, then go with all your might and perseverance. It helps to have a mentor, especially in the early stages, to deal with the challenges, lest it becomes a lonely journey.

  • Tijay Gupta, Co-Founder at Bachpan & AHPS Group of Schools

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Tijay Gupta: The initial idea for setting up BACHPAN was conceived in 2004. At that time the preschool culture was almost introduced in our country. We saw a lack of awareness among the parents and the schools as well. We felt a void and need for a sudden shift where the children should be given proper guidance towards their capabilities and decided to bring some crucial changes in the format of the Preschool sector. We believed that childhood is the period where every child deserves to enjoy along with what they learn as it is the best way to get them engaged in the process. That is how we decided to put our hands up for the little ones and their education. We prepared a curriculum that gave children not only the initial learning but the option to enjoy their ‘Bachpan’. Later we felt the need to do the same in the formal education sector and decided to begin our franchise business in the formal education sector with Academic Heights Public School. Today we successfully operates 1200+ schools across India. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Bachpan & AHPS Group of Schools? Tijay Gupta: There is a list of services that are continuously updated for our students too. At Bachpan, we offer kids a mixed bag of innovation, technology, and lots of fun. We believe in making everything as easy as possible so that they don’t take the burden of any activity and can learn flawlessly. We take assistance from smart classes and virtual reality to foster a kid’s learning. We have our own speak-o-kit and Robotime kit that allows our kids to get closer to the modern world of technology and their games at the same time. AHPS is known for its choices in providing the best platform to young students. We conduct several academic and extra-curricular events throughout the year that gives the students appropriate exposure to the world that is waiting outside for them. Great Companies: What makes Bachpan & AHPS Group of Schools different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Tijay Gupta: We have always tried to stay ahead of the times to give our students real-life experiences. We not only talk of academics, but we also work for overall growth. The modern world has moved much ahead of the conventional form of learning and we are proud that we have regularly invested in technology that allows our students to stay updated in every aspect of the education world. The quality in our infrastructure and types of equipment both for Bachpan and AHPS makes us stand out from our adversaries. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Tijay Gupta: It is never easy to be in a transition period and adapt to everything quickly. I think it was the biggest challenge for all of us as a unit. We started with a mission to bring a revolution in the preschool sector of our country. We were determined to play our role but it was a challenge to summarise everything and make the parents realize what they lacked at that time. Similarly, when we talk of AHPS, we prepared modern tech-friendly schools which were relatively new and needed time to grab the masses. We worked on our mission and gradually developed to become a synonym for innovations and modernization in the world of education. It was not easy but the challenges and sufferings are something that can make you tougher and stronger. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What do 5 years down the line look like for Bachpan & AHPS Group of Schools? Tijay Gupta: We have always believed in working on our vision and mission but that does not mean that we should not focus on what we are doing now. We are regularly working on the role of Virtual reality and Robotics in the field of education and we are the first of our kind to do so both in Bachpan and AHPS. We are spread all around the country with Bachpan and currently hold more than 1100 franchises. AHPS holds more than 100 franchises. We want to grow more and be part of those cities that lack the services of modern preschool and formal school education. At the same time, we are looking for international expansion. We are already working with Bachpan franchises in Nepal and now we are in touch with a few more countries. In the coming years, we are sure of getting more international exposure as a brand. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Tijay Gupta: The advice is simple: Just be focused on what you are working on and don’t be afraid of taking big decisions at the right time. Because once you are on the back foot it takes a lot to come back. Once you are ready to go just trust in yourself and take the right decision at the right time like we did when the country needed a change in the world of education.

  • Ashish Mendiratta, CEO at Advanchainge Pvt Ltd

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Ashish Mendiratta: We had been doing consulting and capability development work for various clients in the field of supply chain and logistics. We discovered the lack of sensitivity and visibility of risks at level of the line managers. The are usually dependent of the internal audits or third party audits, done once a year, to know about the gaps, violations and exceptions. Given the increasingly dynamic environment, these audits turn out to be post-mortems, instead of the warning signs available more frequently so that proactive actions could be taken. Therefore, a need was felt for an integrated tool in the hands of the line managers that could easily be used as frequently as needed to identify and close the gaps. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Advanchainge Pvt Ltd Ashish Mendiratta: Predominantly, we provide the Audit & Assessment tool that can be customized for any type of operations & industry. The tool is SaaS based and hosted on AWS and offered on subscription. Apart from this we also provide the consulting services for helping the clients to develop the checklists as well as implementing the remediation actions post audit and assessment. Great Companies: What makes Advanchainge Pvt Ltd different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Ashish Mendiratta: Most of the players offer solutions to automate the existing manual audit process in the form of an app or tool. These tools offer certain advantages but are not disruptive enough. Some of the tools are very complex to use with features not used extensively. Our solution cuts out all the frills, quick to implement, easy to use and have features developed based on the users’ experience. Our roadmap aims to drive the risks management analytics & continuous monitoring instead of depending on the physical involvement of the auditors. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Ashish Mendiratta: One of the challenges faced was finding the right talent for building a competent team for future growth. Another challenge was to find the right technology partner and a CTO. We recently onboarded a CTO that has significantly added to our capabilities to adopt the new age technologies as well as execution of product development. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Advanchainge Pvt Ltd? Ashish Mendiratta: We would be a leading and global player in providing the smart solutions for operational risks management & productivity improvement. It will be achieved using cutting edge technologies e.g. predictive analytics, AI/ML, IoTs, Augmented Reality. We will be reaching out to the potential investors to fund the growth plan as well as working closely with our clients. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Ashish Mendiratta: The aspiring entrepreneurs should take a plunge, as there has never been a better ecosystem for the start-ups. Even big companies are willing to work with start-ups and provide opportunities to fine tune the product and scale up. However, the journey requires patience, perseverance and clarity of vision. One should do the complete homework and get a realistic assessment of the market before jumping into it. Website : https://www.simsa.biz/ Social Media : LinkedIn | Facebook | Twitter

  • Ankit Agarwal and Abhishek Talwar, Co-founder's at Hexaview Technologies, Inc.

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Ankit Agarwal: I was working in FinTech domain for more than 5 years when I thought to start Hexaview in 2010. Where all other services companies I knew of, were providing vanilla tech services, we had a vision to provide niche technology consulting services only in fintech directly to US customers. This vision gave birth to Hexaview. Abhishek Talwar: Taking it forward from Ankit’s, we were always sure that our offering would be niche technology catering to niche market. Where we spent a good amount of thoughts were on the sector and the geography. What swayed our decision in favour of fintech was our working experience in this domain alongside the growth promise sector held in 2010 and till now. US market is arguably the most fintech literate market in the world. So, we decided to take our offering there- a symbiotic set up for a fintech consultancy. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Hexaview Technologies, Inc. Ankit Agarwal: 4 major technology services provided by Hexaview are: a.) Enterprise product engineering b.) Salesforce consulting c.) Data & Data science engineering d.) Cloud services Abhishek Talwar: I think Ankit has summed it up pretty well. Great Companies: What makes Hexaview Technologies, Inc. different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Ankit Agarwal: Being focused on financial domain helped our team members to share both technical & domain knowledge with our customers. We are their technology partners and not just service providers. Their success defines our success. We grow when our clients grow. Founders are willing & eager to get their hands dirty and help clients succeed. We do not say yes to every client who approaches us, which I think allows us to provide right set of services to the customers we work with. Abhishek Talwar: In addition to what Ankit said, we are laser focussed on hiring the right talent. And this talent that we hired back in 2013-2016, is now occupying pioneer positions and executing our vision. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Ankit Agarwal: Customer Acquisition, branding, hiring you name it and we had struggles everywhere as we started in June 2010. We are first generation entrepreneurs and had to build the business from scratch. That was interesting, highly educating and challenging at the same time. We took one problem at a time, solved it, and then moved to next one. From finding our very first office space, to expanding our current office to accommodate more and more team members, there have been struggles to achieve each & every milestone which has made me a better person. Abhishek Talwar: I think the biggest challenge any start up faces is trust. Market doesn’t trust you and lack of trust is manifested in form of challenges which Ankit just mentioned. Over the years , what Ankit and I have done is to go out of our way to build trust with our customers, service providers and most importantly, our staff. What appears impressive now , whether long association with staff or customers is actually our sincere efforts on avoiding complacency at all costs. Regardless of success or occasional failures, we have been committed, tenacious and fair. That has help us build Hexaview as you see today as also contributed towards our personal growth. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Hexaview Technologies, Inc.? Ankit Agarwal : Hexaview is a completely bootstrapped company and profitable from day 1. Today, we are 300+ strong team and plan to double ourselves in next 2 years. We are at an excellent growth trajectory and would like to expand ourselves in newer regions like Canada & Europe. Abhishek Talwar: Would like to grow our revenue at health 40%+ CAGR for next 5 years as a result the future promising and exciting for all of us here. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Ankit Agarwal : I think I have said this before to my fellow entrepreneurs: just go ahead & take the plunge and get rolling. If you have the dream, muster courage to fulfil it and then leave the rest on fate. The earning of our life is not how much our venture succeeds, it’s the learning we had during the process/journey that makes each and every one of us special. Abhishek Talwar: I second what Ankit said. I am also a firm believer of ‘burning the bridges’ if one wants to cross over in any walk of life. Look ahead, give your best shot and then start preparing for next shots. For me, starting out is never a sprint, it’s a marathon-one would need stamina, focus , strategy and of course, a good partner like Ankit. • Suchitra Anish, Founder at Oni360

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business? Suchitra Anish: The idea of setting up a boutique Communications house germinated in 2015. After working for nearly 12 years with leading Indian companies and foreign MNCs, the Corporate Communications-agencies' disconnect became increasingly apparent to me. The creative agencies did not function as an extended arm or partner for the Corporate Communication functions of corporates. Instead, the relationship would be hierarchial and transactional. It would be mostly output driven as opposed to being outcome based. The ability to understand the big picture business objectives of clients and map that to communication goals across different verticals of the function sparked the idea of Oni360 - a boutique, integrated Brand and Communications agency offering the full spectrum of Communication solutions under one roof. No longer would Communication work in silos but would operate as one unit to deliver value to clients. The journey of Oni360 has progressed from being a proprietor driven concern in 2016 to growing into a Limited Liability Partnership in 2018. During 2018, seasoned industry professionals joined Oni360 from leading creative agencies and MNC to strengthen its Advertising and Creative Production and Event Experience and Design verticals. Leapfrogging into the next phase of growth in 2020, Oni360 brought Nano Media Creatives Pvt. Ltd. - a young, dynamic team of creative filmmaking enthusiasts, under its wings. Through this partnership, we have worked with over 100+ emerging and world renowned brands across different industry sectors. Our work has won globally prestigious awards in Communications and Public Relations for our clients spread across the US and India. Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Oni360 Suchitra Anish: We offer the full suite of Communication services from Brand design, Public Relations, Creative Production to Event Experience Design and Digital Marketing solutions. Great Companies: What makes Oni360 different from hundreds of other similar service providers? Suchitra Anish: We have evolved from being storytellers to story-doers. What this means is our ability to curate stories where none seem to exist. This requires us to dive deeper into understanding the brand's problem statement and design an integrated bouquet of Communication solutions to solve a business problem. For instance, we carved a distinct positioning for an international Sports Fashion brand that manufactures cutting-edge sports shoes and apparels by creating a new category called 'Athletech' - Athletism meets Technology. To reinforce this positioning we did a live broadcast of the Sports Science lab where these products are manufactured outside of India straight to Bangalore to a select media persons. The press coverage garnered 14 times the coverage and increased digital traffic to the client's website. This was extended into an influencer driven digital campaign to strengthen the brand's Athletech category 'differentiation'. The campaigns were supported by several creative assets. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Suchitra Anish: Initially it was difficult for clients to understand our value proposition and differentiation. Our ability to see the big picture and offer integrated Communication solutions wasn't understood easily by clients. Initially, clients struggled to fit us into a conventional Advertising, Public Relations or Digital Marketing agency template. The idea of an integrated Communications agency that functions as an extended partner for companies wasn't well understood in the early days. Overtime, our clients have reposed faith in us by extending their engagement with our agency every year. The other challenge we are facing is in attracting the right talent. We are working with different recruitment agencies and using social media platforms to hire talent. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Oni360? Suchitra Anish: We plan to grow through the organic and inorganic routes. We will be inducting more youngsters from campuses to groom the next generation talent to strengthen our business verticals and expand our business to other geographies outside of US and India. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be? Suchitra Anish: The world is moving to a gig economy. According to Boson Consulting Group report, the gig economy will create upto 90 million jobs (roughly 30 per cent of India's non-agricultural workforce). This can add up to 1.25% GDP to India's growth. Start ups are therefore not the flavour of the month or season but the new way of how the world will work. This is therefore an exciting time to start out. However, be sure to enter the arena only if you have a strong sense of purpose, integrity, discipline and fortitude.

This world automatically starts considering the differently-abled person as destitute or helpless. In contrast, I believe no person is disabled unless their mind isn't working. It's just that they are differently abled, and even a person with disabilities can make all his dreams come true if they want to. I understood and realized that it is not easy for anyone to spend their whole life in a wheelchair, but we should not lose heart. I never lost my courage and accepted my disability as part of my life and started focusing on other things, changed my weakness into my strength, and made my destination. Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What do 5 years down the line look like for HD THE DESIGNER? The coming 5 years is not a very long time, because time passes quickly. But technology will also evolve a lot in these five years because everything is completely digital in today's era. Our real aim in these five years is to adopt every new technology, tools and provide our customer quality media output always. I want to expand my brand further and make our offices at different places in the coming time. At the same time, by further enhancing our services, we will also hire new employees to give experience and employment to freshers, by adopting all these technologies, strategies, and innovations. I also have a vision in to establish an NGO where we could provide free basic computer education to the underprivileged, disabled and financially unstable children or youth so they could make a difference in their life as I did in my life. Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting, what would it be? I have learned from my problems that if God takes one thing from you, he also blesses you with many things. But it is up to you to find these things by yourself. There are always challenges in your life in some way or the other, but you should always be happy with what you have and start working towards your goals to achieve more. There are many types of people in the world, out of which many people are differently-abled. Beauty does not exist by itself but is created by observers. To all of them I would like to say that keep following your passion, don't think what society thinks about you and keep working hard for your goals and a good day will surely come, success will kiss your feet. The most important thing is never to doubt yourself because you are good enough, you are not like everyone else, and that is your strength. This life experience leads me towards my goal and will propel me forward.
