- Jason Dalton - Business Developmnet Director of Safe Hands Bookkeeping Ltd
Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea? Jason Dalton: We love helping business owners to benefit from automation and efficiencies - often brought about by technology / integrations with software. Seeing how being disorganised can cause such a distraction and barrier to growth has helped us evolve our bookkeeping business into a supportive and innovative partner to many business owners, their teams and their companies. Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company? Jason Dalton: Three key areas are Payroll, Bookkeeping and Business Growth Support, which all work complimentary together or can be supportive in their own right. Each of these key areas have service options, to ensure the offering is right for you and provides a solid foundation for a long lasting and mutually beneficial relationship. Great Companies: Why should one choose you over others in this field? Jason Dalton: We are individual and have a personality, where we put relationships above everything; we are in the business of building trust and relationships, not spreadsheets and numbers (people remember the way we make them feel not what we do, so we strive to get this right with our valued clients or helping them find the right service for them). We provide a guarantee, we will deliver a service at a agreed fixed cost, to support budgeting and forecasting, with a conversation before any changes are suggested so there are no unexpected bills. Communication is key and drives the strong relationships we aim for. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? Jason Dalton: Delivering at pace and being passionate and ambitious can often mean we want to deliver benefits fast; this means we need to be considerate to our clients desires and sometime a challenge can be when a client who may be fearsome of technology, for example, does not want to move quickly; this can hinder the real value we can add, which we are happy to work at a slower pace, but equally eager to provide as much value as we can to cement the benefits of our relationship. Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business? Jason Dalton: For a successful business it is important, we believe, to plan (to help you relax about deadlines and direction of how you are growing), look to benefit from efficiencies (to save time and focus on what is important and value add activities) plus maintain and monitor (to ensure you keep within your abilities or means, while delivering to our highest standards).
- David Rylah - Director of ADR Wealth
Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea? David Rylah: I was a salaried adviser working in one of the big 4 banks. I didn't like the vertical integration which affected my ability to provide advice that was truly in my clients’ best interest. I spent 6 months planning the transition from salaried adviser to business owner and stepped straight into the role with gusto. I haven't looked back since and now have the pleasure of providing the advice clients are seeking which is very satisfying. I'm in an open plan office with an Accountant and a Finance Broker which is great for clients. It's also an amazing environment to work in with driven colleagues to collaborate with. Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company? David Rylah: Investment & Superannuation advice from the simple to complex depending on a client’s personal situation, this also includes Self-Managed Super Funds. Debt reduction strategies that will often be tied in with the investment advice and insurance advice to ensure our clients, their families and their businesses have the protection they need for peace of mind. Great Companies: Why should one choose you over others in this field? David Rylah: The advice we provide must pass the test of being in the clients’ best interest with the business benefit only coming from the service we provide, not the products we align with. Our services are also personalised to each client’s needs, not the other way around where we fit the client to a pre-set service package. Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face? David Rylah: The constant changing environment of the industry. This has added layers of complexity and admin to the process of providing advice. The industry as a whole must modernise through technology to streamline the process and ensure we meet the new legal requirements. Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business? David Rylah: A passion for what you do, a high level of resilience, a high quality of service and very importantly the ability to build strong relationships with your clients.

Kostas Kapelas: In the past, I did not know how to run a business and where to invest my resources first to grow and move my business forward. They were far too many experts out there promising to have precisely what my company needed to succeed. Currently, I need patience and technical skills to fully implement the systems and strategies of a clear plan without burning myself out. I know what I need to do; it is just a matter of being able to fully delegate everything to capable people apart of the things that I love doing. Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business? Kostas Kapelas: Passion and love for what you do, walk the talk, work with a team of specialists or learn the skills for strategy, marketing and sales etc required for a successful business. We need to remember that over 66.5% of USA companies go bankrupt because of health issues according to the American Public Journal of Health, and we know the UK and Europe is never too far behind the USA.
