Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea?
Nicholas William Pearman: Having worked within the cleaning industry form the age of 17, I have cleaned pretty much everything from toilets in working mans clubs to windows in the royal house hold. Over the years, the industry has grown but unfortunately budgets haven't. You see more and more companies going after the same contract, wanting to win the work they go in at a low price and in some cases non-profitable. I personally think as business owners we are here to make profit. Its not all about having the biggest contact.
Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company?
Nicholas William Pearman: We help keep commercial kitchens stay insured, we provide kitchen extraction cleaning and certification to BESA TR19 Standards. If you oversee the running of a commercial kitchen you have a legal obligation to insure you have a valid certificate of cleanness failing to have this can validate your building insurance in worst cases this could lead to a fire if not maintained.    Great Companies: Why should one choose you over others in this field?
Nicholas William Pearman:Â Â We are passionate about what we do, we are committed to an honest and quality service. Some extraction systems have vertical risers going up the external sides of buildings. In most cases this is by a residential property. We have our own in house team of Rope Accesses Technicians (Absailers) saving the cost and inconvenience of scaffolding and machinery after all you want to keep the neighbours happy.
Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?
Nicholas William Pearman:Â Like many business in the cleaning industry a lot of our work is out of hours. The night staff are unaware that we are attending site. So communication with the client prior to the job taking place is critical. Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business?
Nicholas William Pearman: Many people say over the years say I have learnt how to run a business. I personally say I have learnt how not to run business. You don't need a big team you need the right team and when you get that team look after them don't try to get blood out of a stone. I try to take the guys out for a pint once a month. Yes you are the boss but your still a team player get hands on, don't forget that! Having time out is so important getting the balance right is vitale. Networking, BNI has made my business thrive and I have met people who are now life long friends.
