Nasreen Khan Chanana, Cofounder at NourishtoCherish
Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: When we relocated to Mumbai from Delhi on account of my husband’s transfer, I was trying to figure out some different path in life, away from the usual Public Relations job which I had been doing for many years. It was a welcome break for me and I devoted a lot of time helping my family settle in the city where I was born and raised. Though it was satisfying to be a home maker and a full time mother to two bubbly teenage girls, I felt the need to do something which would help me give back to society in my own small way. I decided to educate myself and get certified to be in the helping profession and become a Mental Wellness professional. I am a Certified Counsellor and Therapist along with being a Relationship Mentor. We all are living in such stressful times and I am glad I am trained to help and reach out to people who are unable to deal with tough life situations.
Great Companies: What are the various services provided by NourishtoCherish?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: It is a complete platform catering towards helping people achieve their true potential and lead a satisfied life. We offer Individual Counselling programs, Personality Development Programs, Career Guidance, Relationship Mentoring, Pre- marital Counselling and also Group counselling sessions.
Great Companies: What makes NourishtoCherish different from hundreds of other similar service providers?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: We stand apart due to our level of commitment and dedication towards our clients growth and potential. We do not believe in ‘one shoe fits all’ way of working. Each client is unique and the way we design a program or workshop for that client is also exclusive and caters to that particular clients need and requirement. Usually people in this industry work with a few fixed programs and use the same frame work for most clients whereas our USP is to take into consideration the individual need and capability of the person and curate our programs accordingly.
Another reason we stand out is our unique program WEDDING2MARRIAGE, a Pre-Marital Coaching program which is designed in a way to help young couples become well equipped to face the challenges of married life.
Great Companies: What were the struggles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: Mental Health or Mental Wellness is still not a very open discussion topic in our country. People find it difficult to seek help even if they realise that they are struggling. They would prefer brushing it under the carpet rather than addressing the issue and take guidance. There is another misconception that a Coach or a Mental Health Expert is consulted only if there is a problem. The fact is, in the fast paced life style that we all live, it is advisable to take the help of a professional who can be your mentor and guide to keep you focussed on your goal. It is not easy to stay motivated always but it is easy to stay disciplined and a Coach can help you form habits to maintain a disciplined life style.
Our main struggle was to create awareness and acceptance in people towards Mental Issues and the Burn-Out phase that young people were experiencing. Initially, we planned many group sessions online and offline where we would introduce the subject of mental health and through various activities make people aware of the benefits and the need of having a trained professional working with them. Through our persistent efforts we have successfully managed to bring about a certain level of mind set shift as we now have clients coming to us from various strata of society such as, teenagers, working professionals, young entrepreneurs, home makers among others.
Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for NourishtoCherish?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: Through our platform we would like to make Mental Wellness a top priority and provide easy access to all. Though we have global clients, I am passionate about reaching to smaller cities and towns in India and create awareness among the young minds and cater to their needs. Our Personality Development Programs and Career Guidance workshop will provide the much needed support to them in creating a better future.
Besides this, one of the MOST important and something very close to my heart is Pre-Marital Coaching Program which I would like to spread as much as possible and make it a norm for any young couple who intend to get into a Relationship. I would like to dedicate the next few years in spreading the importance of this program and become synonymous for providing Exclusive Pre-Marital Coaching.
Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Nasreen Khan Chanana: I would say, keep working towards your goals consistently and not occasionally and always remember discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.
