Inamul Haq Rafiqi, CEO at Grameen Sneh Foundation

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Inamul Haq Rafiqi: Actually the work I am doing is neither a Business Nor a Profit Making Service, it is Purely a Not-for-Profit Organization. Now the question is why I chose a Not-for-Profit Organization and the reply is that Not-for-Profit Organizations have a very large work domain especially in a diverse country like India. Further in developing countries like India there is a vast gap between Services / Products made available by Government and Private Players on account of which the major chunk population (Middle Class) has to suffer a lot. In such situations the Not-for-Profit organizations can play a greater and more responsible Role.

Additionally my personal traits like motivation, hard work, compassion for social work, high empathy, active listening and communication skills and problem solving approach are much

aligned and make me right fit for a Not-for-Profit Organization.

Great Companies: What are the various services provided by Grameen Sneh Foundation?

Inamul Haq Rafiqi: Grameen Sneh Foundation came into existence in 2009 in Delhi and initially started its work in healthcare sector by working on cancer awareness, detection,

diagnosis and treatment. However over the years the scope of work broadened and today Grameen Sneh Foundation is ISO 9001:2015 Certified and LIMCA Book of records Awarded Pan India Not-for-Profit Organization known for services in

  • Health Care

  • Livelihood

  • Empowerment

  • Skill Development

  • Education

  • Art and Culture

  • Relief and Rehabilitation

and the list of services is expanding with time.

Great Companies: What makes Grameen Sneh Foundation different from hundreds of other similar service providers?

Inamul Haq Rafiqi: Verily this question is difficult to answer because I am of the opinion that every organization big or small; local or national; rural or urban is doing an appreciating work in their own capacities. Instead of comparing and competing with other Not-for-Profit organizations let us collaborate and support each other to reduce the miseries of common man. However I must say that the practices reflecting accountability and transparency, prudent fiduciary services, legal, ethical, and responsible fundraising, and effective governance are strictly followed and in place in Grameen Sneh Foundation.

Great Companies: What were the struggles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

Inamul Haq Rafiqi: The list of my struggles and challenges faced is quite long and better not be discussed here. However the Mantra that I practiced to overcome the challenges And that gave me strength in my struggle is Hard work and Honesty. I would like to add here that the challenges I faced in my personal or professional life made me what I am today.

Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Grameen Sneh Foundation?

Inamul Haq Rafiqi: Future is always indefinite and unpredictable, better to focus on present and make it beautiful equally for yourself and other. So far as Grameen Sneh Foundation’s growth is concerned the GSFians will continue to work harder with honesty and more dedication towards Skill Development, Livelihood Empowerment and of course healthcare.

Over the next 5 years GSF will try to align with UN SDGs especially

  • No Poverty

  • Clean Water & Sanitation

  • Reduced Inequalities

  • Climate Action
