What is Sweatcoin?

In the world of technology, there are incentives in place wherever you go. “Buy this thing, and get this back!” “Sign up 10 friends and get this free!” The incentives change but the message is largely the same.

Which is what makes Sweatcoin so interesting. What if you could get paid to walk? More interesting than Sweatcoin price is the concept itself. Check out the space below to learn more about Sweatcoin and what benefits it could provide.

What is Sweatcoin?

To those who aren’t familiar, Sweatcoin is an exercise app. This app tracks the number of steps logged and pays out users in “Sweatcoins”. This is essentially a quasi-cryptocurrency and it is paid out after every 1,000 steps. The bad part is that you can’t technically cash it out.

Sweatcoins can instead be used on services, experiences, and goods from cooperating vendors. It operates in much the same way that cryptocurrency does but with enough of a difference that it bears breaking down. The concept is an interesting one and can provide the kind of motivation that people who struggle working out need to get going. It also adds a bit of a modern flare by tying in a crypto-based currency as an incentive for hitting certain milestones.

The concept can be a bit confusing at first. While you can accumulate Sweatcoins to trade in for merchant items, experiences, and gifts, it doesn’t stop there. What makes Sweatcoin cool is the ability to trade coins with other users on the app. It is a unique offering in both the crypto and workout space.

Going to a Good Cause

If you’re feeling great, you can donate your coins to charitable campaigns and organizations. Sweatcoin has partnered up with Save the Children while also working with charities like the African Wildlife Foundation, Conservation International, and Cancer Research UK.

The app initially only counted indoor steps – at work, at the gym, walking up or down stairs, etc. – but has since begun to count all steps instead. Setting milestones each day can be a fantastic way to earn a little more money for the starving and under privileged.

How Does it Work?

First and foremost, Sweatcoin can be found through both the Googe Play and App Stores. It is accessible on any smart device, like a phone, tablet, or smartwatch. Upon downloading the app itself, all the necessary information will be required to continue (name, address, phone number, and GSP location turned on).

Sweatcoin also hears concerns about data privacy by guaranteeing 100% data privacy. And, on the company website, it says that will never ever sell private customer data. Privacy is more important than ever and Sweatcoin ensures that sensitive information remains where it belongs.

When the app has been set up, it uses the GPS location and accelerometer within your smart device to track the steps. On average, the app can provide 0.95 Sweatcoins for every 1,000 outdoor steps you take. The rate is 0.95 Sweatcoins for every 1,000 outdoor steps taken. There is also a 5% commission fee to be aware of when you go begin using Sweatcoin.

Concerns About Sweatcoin

Because it is a relatively new app, there are a few things to keep an eye on. For starters, it isn’t easy to get Sweatcoins. At the rate laid out above, 10,500 would result in just 10 Sweatcoins. Unless you do a lot of trading or work out like a maniac, accumulating enough Sweatcoins to make it worthwhile can be a tough ask. Another downside is the drain on the battery. Using your phone just enough will shorten the life of your battery exponentially.
