Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani- Founder & Principal Trainer of Suavity- The Grooming School
Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea?
Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani: SUAVITY-The Grooming School, is formed for two reasons. Firstly, in an attempt to cultivate the basic forgotten-yet-important concept of Manners and Civility in today’s fast paced and outrageously casual environment. As an observer, I began to notice that the generation we are, we have a very thin line of separation between Casual (as we perceive ourselves) and Rude (as others perceive us). Although we all experience the over-casual-bordering-rude behaviour in some or the other area of personal and professional life we seldom take any conscious efforts to better the situation from our end.
Secondly, it is an effort to help understand that to take care of one’s image and personality is rather necessary to being a pleasant and desirable addition to the society we belong to. The image and style of a person make a statement about him even before he uses his words.
Etiquette Education and Image management is to be given importance, now more than ever, because we are a part of a global environment where presenting ourselves and our culture at the very best is vital to our being.
Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company? Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani: * Social Etiquette Program for Adults/Youth/Children
* Image Enhancement Program
* The Polished Professionals
* Advanced Dining Etiquette Program
* Language Training Program
* Life Skills Training
Great Companies: Why should one choose you over others in this field?
Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani: Suavity aims to provide the traditional Charms School Training in a more modern and contemporary approach so that it is better suited to the current lifestyle of masses. Though one is attracted to and understands the importance of a well-groomed personality not many really know the behavioural science that make us like what we like about a personality. Individuals need to learn proper manners and social skills now more than ever. Knowing a few basic rules will give you confidence and help you feel comfortable whether you are meeting someone new, hosting an event, mingling at a party, or dining at a formal table. Competition for acceptance into colleges and good jobs is becoming increasingly tough and those who possess interpersonal skills that are well developed and natural, will stand out in the crowd.It’s never too soon or too late to learn the soft skills that help you be the person other people want to be around.
Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?
Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani: Till date, whenever I am asked about my profession, more often than not, I end up spending a good 15-20 minutes to explain what my profession is all about. Point being, the Indian masses are not really acquainted with the concept of a finishing School. So Suavity, being a modern day Grooming School, has to create a fully aware market for itself in the Indian society before it can start catering to its best. These services as of date are being exploited by only a few who understand the importance of investing in an individual's social capital. Nonetheless, Saying this, the last year has definitely seen a rise in the number of people enquiring for a service like this. Its basically the younger generation, the teens and the working professionals who have started availing these services because either their work demands it or to better themselves or upgrade their persona to match the global standards.
Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business?
Ritu Shahdadpuri Tejwani: We are living in an outrageously fast paced world, so keeping the business updated alone does not suffice. You have to constantly improvise and modernise the service to suit the current scenario to stay ahead. Also we live in a digitally dominated world where how your business is doing on the digital front can make or break the game. So its ll about staying ahead in the game.
