Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Karthik Venkataraman : Sublimis was formed with the Vision of “Revolutionizing the SME Ecosystem through Digital Roadmap” We all know M/SME industry is the backbone of the Indian economy. They contribute to nearly 37% of the GDP, account for 45% of the total factory output and make up for 42% of our total export. There are nearly 50 million enterprises, employing over 110 Million people, in this category and is growing by the day. However, for decades this segment has been wanting to scale up business using technology as an enabler but due to the limited choices and affordability most of them have not been able to scale up.

Thus, We, the promoters/founders, having a 20+ years of shared working relationship in the tech domain, have a first-hand experience of how the M/SME segment has been deprived of technology access, and, therefore, we know exactly where the gap lies. With no focused solution being provided for this sector by Enterprise Solution providers and affordability being a key driver, the best way was to form our own company and help empower the businesses of M/SME Sector on the digital road map.

Karthik Venkataraman : Our focus market is the Global M/SME Market who have been deprived of affordable technology solutions The Current Solution Providers only focus on Enterprises and are beyond the reach of these small-scale sectors and this leaves a signification gap (totally untapped market) for Sublimis to address.

The key pain areas that the M/SMEs face even today are - .

a) Market Footprint Expansion

b) Scalability of Operations,

c) End to End Supplier Chain Automation

d) Achieving the required transaction speed through efficient integration of third-party Payment and Logistics systems,

e) Access to Affordable Technology and capitalizing on it, and

f) Flexibility & Configurability in Choosing Tech Components.

We address this huge gap for M/SMEs through our innovative and disruptive platforms "EPorium" – an E-Commerce Platform & Business Automation Platform (B2B SaaS Based), and "Brahmaand" – a Travel ERP Holiday Platform (Enterprise / SaaS Product).

Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Karthik Venkataraman : We are one & half year old start-up and challenges will always be there irrespective of the stage in which your business is. As long as you believe in your vision and have a focussed approach towards realising the vision, nothing is impossible. In the first year as we are in the project stage and were focussing on our MVP, to manage working capital till we hit the market and to start generating initial revenue was a challenge and glad to share we have successfully crossed that stage. We are now in the market and have signed up over 30 plus clients over last 6 months. Our focus now is to grow and keep innovating our platform basis the needs of the Global M/SME Market.

Going forward as well - We can only prepare ourselves for any impact that can be caused due to factors beyond our control (like the pandemic). However, we can have backup plans for such situations and activate them as and when needed. It is important to address the challenges and face them instead of letting things happen. With the world shrinking and globalization in its peak, it will be important to keep innovating our platforms and keep up with the agility of business requirements. This is what will drive global adaptability of our platforms and that is something we focus and plan for. Our clients play a very important role as well as their feedback and business dynamics is a key component to keep innovating and scaling up our platforms.

Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Sublimis Technologies Private Limited?

Karthik Venkataraman : We continue our platform enhancements as per the road map and keep innovating and empowering the businesses of our Clients on the Digital Road Map. Product & Platform enhancements will be an on-going activity and our client’s feedback and the agility and dynamics of their business will also play an important role for our product road map.

In terms of distribution in line with our long-term plan we will go global with a mix of our own team and partners globally who would represent and resell our Platforms in their respective Markets and we have already started work on approaching the right partners for the same. Our plan is to have our global distribution network setup in the next 2 years. Our Vision that we are working towards the next 5 years is to be one of the Indian Companies that Makes in India for the Global M/SME Industry. This is our way to contribute to the Digital Transformation of our country and globally.

Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Karthik Venkataraman : The advice I would like to give all entrepreneurs who are starting out is to be patient, stick to one’s vision and diligently work towards the goal. There will be ups and downs, but one needs to face these challenges and plan accordingly. Remember that there is no shortcut to success but only hard work.
