Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea?
Karan Mulchandani: I'm the 4th Generation to enter my Family Owned and Managed Business in Textiles. It was started by my great-grandfather in Karachi and Mumbai in 1932. With over 85 years of experience in the Fabric Industry, we manufacture and trade in Premium Cotton and Linen Shirting Fabrics & cater to a wide spectrum of customers such as Retailers, E-commerce companies, Garment Manufacturers, Designers and Fashion Houses in both -Domestic and International Markets.
I entered the business over 8 years ago and continue to grow it using my Technology background. (Previously I worked at Pangea3 - a division of Thompson Reuters for Technology Consulting & Business Development.)

Karan Mulchandani: We stock over 3000 Designs, and hence provide the widest range of Shirting Fabrics in the Industry, including collections that are available throughout the year, trend-led items and seasonal products across all counts and weaves for all Shirting needs.
Other fabrics we supply apart from 100% Cotton and Linen include Cotton-lycra, Cotton Suitings, Tencel, Modal, Bamboo, Organic and Eco-Vero Viscose Fabrics that are highly sustainable - which is the need of the hour. But one of our hot new favourites has been Wrinkle-free and Stain-free fabrics that work really well for Corporates and Lawyers.

Karan Mulchandani: It’s always tedious to bring new technologies and practices to old traditional processes and systems especially in the Textile Industry which is largely unorganized.
Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business?
Karan Mulchandani: I don’t think any business can survive today without the use of technology. Every business needs to be flexible and adapt as per the times. Apart from the everyday operational activities, every business owner should allocate time to plan ahead and think about their sustainability. One way to achieve this is by implementing mini-projects that may not yield instant returns but will definitely have a long term positive impact on the company, thus transforming it in the right direction, keeping it future-ready.
Also, every business owner and employee should know their Core Values and stand by it. The Core values for my company are Integrity, Quality, and Respect, and every decision stems from these.
