Harsh Wardhan, Founder at HW Transformation

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Harsh Wardhan: Some part of it was always in me. In my 8th standard started renting out my video game. Got caught by parents so stopped it. Helped brother in his photo studio. Later in college life I started my coaching centre too. I failed in that as very soon I realised that I am not good in teaching academics.

After graduation I realised my potential. I left two jobs in beginning of my career because they were not in my field of interest that’s design. I had to take them due to family and social pressure. But later I successfully got my dream job in a big MNC as Equipment design engineer under very experienced team. During my entire job life, I used to work very hard. But like most of us I always felt that I am underpaid. So I always kept on looking possibilities of starting something of my own where I can be rewarded in proportion to my efforts. The other reason was that most of the times I was fired by my bosses for late coming. I was trusted for work but cursed for discipline. These two sides were like nullifying each other any nothing was coming out. So finally after 10 years in regular job I made a decision of starting something of my own to maintain a work life balance and to get what I deserve.

Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by HW Transformation

Harsh Wardhan: We are completely into Mechanical Design Services. It itself is a broad term. It includes all type of machine design to some extent. We are helping clients to realise their dreams. We can help in:-

1. 2D and 3D modelling of almost any machine on earth using Solidworks and Autodesk products. We have perpetual licenses of Solidworks and Autodesk offers term license for adhoc need.

2. Research and development of new products with minimal supervision.

3. Reverse Engineering using point cloud.

4. Vendor Development and evaluation.

5. Manual Engineering calculations to clients standard.

Great Companies: What makes HW Transformation from hundreds of other Manufacturing Companies ?

Harsh Wardhan:

We are service providing agency. Not a very big group but small team of engineers working together. We give our 200% to the projects. Its our zeal because of which we build a long term relationship. We believe in steady and regular growth.

Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Harsh Wardhan: Being a small team and without any financial backup we can’t expand rapidly as we can. Many times I have to play multiple roles. Since I started this, I have become a It engineer ( software and hardware) repairing my pcs on adhoc basis. I have become an accountant handling accounts. I have become an corporate advocate dealing agreements myself. I hardly gets anytime to work as a mechanical engineer.

Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for HW Transformation?

Harsh Wardhan: My plan is to develop new solutions, getting it patented, selling the patent or launch of product of our own. We are not doing it for clients but soon we are planning to work on real life challenges parallelly. I do realise this is a very challenging path but this is the only path to grow exponentially without much investment of money in advance. Down the line 5 years I see we having a high tech LAB with all the advanced manufacturing solutions solving real life challenges and playing our role in developing the country. I personally find environmental technology very promising. Tony Stark is my inspiration, I know its fiction but not impossible. In real life I admire Elon Musk.

Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Harsh Wardhan: Frankly speaking I don’t call myself a businessman but I am a professional like doctors, Architects, etc. So not sure my advice is good from business point view or not. I can only say find the good in you and make it best. Don’t follow the crowd. Just think what are you good at and nourish it. You can only succeed when you enjoy your work, there is no other shortcut.
