Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea?

Chetan Jain: We are Authorised Dealer of Hero MotoCorp Ltd since 1988 in Jharkhand. Over the last 32 years & 2 generations, we now have 3 dealerships & are also Parts Distributor of Hero MotoCorp Ltd in Jharkhand. Our journey in Automobiles is more than 100 year old, where our forefathers had public transportation business followed by commercial transportation, petrol pumps, heavy vehicle parts business, and so on. We are a joint family business where 5 members are actively involved in day to day operations.

Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company? 

Chetan Jain: We deal in sale & service of Hero Two Wheelers. We are also distributor of Hero Genine Two Wheeler Parts & Accessories. We are also dealers of Exide Batteries, 4 stroke engine oil, tyre / tube, helmets & many other accessories related to two wheeler. We also provide insurance & registration of two wheelers. Vehicle financing facility is also available at our showroom. Recently, we have been appointed as the authorised parts distributor for Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, & the operations will begin by June 2020.

Chetan Jain: We have showroom & workshop under one roof for customer service. We have the largest penetration of customer touch points with more than 20 sub dealers in Jharkhand. For two wheeler parts distribution, we have the largest range of parts availability so that no customer has to ever wait for any part that they need. We have been a part of Chairman's Club of Hero MotoCorp Dealers & Distributor Advisory Committee for Parts Business.

Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Chetan Jain: One of the challenges faced by us, during the last 30 years, is that we have been associated mostly with one single manufacturer (Hero MotoCorp). So our dependency on the performance of the company & its products are very high. We needed to diversify our portfolio & that is why we have now started with parts distribution in four wheeler segment with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business?

Chetan Jain: For a successful family business, it is very important that the transition between one generation to the other is very smooth. We have been blessed that our parents have planned & executed this transition in such a way that all of us have got some independence in taking our own decisions & also make the best use of technology that our parents may not be well versed with, but still having faith in the younger generation & changing the dynamics of the business with respect to the changing trends in the current market scenario.
